Gormly was born into Clan Zazerac, and raised with private tutors in all of the arts of business, commerce, and ruthless organization.
His Becoming was soft; he was to escort a caravan of merchantmen to Echirt to trade steel for cider. He renegotiated the trade himself, cutting the caravaneers out and shaving off a healthy profit for himself and his clan. The Caravaneer Mutual Defense League had a standing bounty on his head for years, but the power of his family and their wealth made such a measure mostly symbolic.
Intelligent and quick witted, he was able to navigate crime, business and politics with relative ease by playing each element against each other; his hostile takeovers were initiated with protection rackets, his rival gangs found themselves exposed to the law, all while his businesses made him untouchable by any good-or-evildoer that happened along and attempted to get in his way.
At his 25th birthday party, he invited the four heads of his family estates to a lavish feast. In the middle of a toast, he announced the signal words and the hall was flooded with footpads, brigands, and assassins who made a horrifying, bloody example of his kin. He has been the undisputed master of Clan Zazerac ever since.
While never married, shortly after he attained absolute power as the family infatuatedNereia, madame of the Whispering Bed. It is his firm belief that they are in a passionate, loving, open relationship akin to some of the more torrid marriages of the old world. In contrast, he is officially married to what can charitably be called a 'trophy wife,' Leena Zazerac. It's a public secret that he has been frustrated by her inability to bear him a son (or any offspring at all).
Gormly has no idea that his mistress rendered him sterile with poisons and is using him to further her own goals. Alice Zazerac is the only heir he will ever have, by Nereia's design.
