Cult of Glasya

"The Cult of Glasya are a bunch of degenerates. If you find them, don't listen to them."   ~Abide Baht Mig, Caravaneer.

Culture

The core beliefs of the Cult of Glasya are simple ambition. No means of gaining power are off the table, and blackmail, extortion, seduction, and pointed application of violence are all very much encouraged.   Poison is Glasya's favorite weapon, though not all poisons are deadly. Love potions, draughts of insanity, and polymorph poisons are all as valuable as nightshade. In many cases, they are preferred.

History

The progenitor of the Zazerac family received dreams from Barokaz identifying his ancient foe, Glasya. Using these nightmares as a guide and the power of the bones as a conduit, the ambitious man made contact with the Princess of Hell. He married at her discretion, and then immediately became a figurehead of his own cult while the women of the clan wielded the true power both in the political and magical arenas.     The cult has persisted in that manner ever since, with the men taking the most visible reigns and the women subverting their wills and making the real policy.

Tenets of Faith

Gluttony - Consume without regret.   Greed - Acquire wealth and power at any cost, so long as those costs can be paid by others.   Lust - Satisfaction and pleasure are paramount.   Vanity - Raw, naked ambition is to be lauded. If one is not beautiful one deserves nothing.   Power - Power is gained by turning a system against itself, yielding power that isn’t only absolute but legitimate on a cultural and legal basis

Ethics

Cultists of Glasya obey local laws most of the time. When they cannot, they seek to form their own laws and are therefore the source of many thieves' guilds and wilderness bandit camps.

Worship

The Cult of Glasya worships in the sacrifice of humans (almost always men) and good creatures and objects.   Otherwise, orgies involving the powerful and the influential are ubiquitous in the Rites of Glasya.

Priesthood

Glasya exclusively uses priestesses for her highest offices, and males in her service find themselves the target of disdain. She may answer prayers and entreaties from males, but she does so capriciously and with spiteful disdain.

Granted Divine Powers

Step into Shadows - As an action, the fanatic, along with anything it is wearing and carrying, magically becomes invisible until the end of its next turn.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Powerful people subverted by the Cult of Glasya are often figureheads, being subservient to their wives and daughters who are the true powers. Often, men are duped into taking marriages into the cult and find their wills entirely subsumed.
