Lord Croll Blackbar
Lord Croll Blackbar, Duke of the lands North of the Flametongue
Croll was born to Duke Alvar and Sanya Blackbar-Conklyn in the first year of Alvar's reign as Duke of the lands North of the Flametongue. He had two siblings,, and older sister Malina and a younger sister Edeline.
Croll married Rewan, a lowborn son of a Guard Captain at Castle Blackbar.
Croll and Rewan had three children, Darron, ser Marleigh and ser Rodnar.
Following The Revolt at Summerswind 419KS, Croll took the orphaned children of House Tallman of Summerswind to Ward, splitting time between their own lands and The City of Bayglen to give the children as many opportunities as possible. During this time his son Darron and Alise Tallman developed a romance, and would go on to marry. Meanwhile Alysia Tallman gained the attention of ser Sola Somercrag, who took her on as Squire, and to whom Alysia in turn Swore Her Sword when she was knighted. The children remained close, and when ser Sola formed Sola's Vanguard in 440KS to ride against The Irogonie Aggression, Croll's son ser Rodnar Blackbar was amongst the first volunteers.
In 441KS, when ser Tyon Cray began planning The Revolution of 441KS in response to Queen Malina Somercrag's treatment of ser Sola's death, one of his first co-conspirators was Lord Erac Tallman, who immediately turned to the advice of the man who had helped raise him, Duke Croll. Duke Croll helped Tyon to realise that pursuing the truth from the Queen would likely lead to war, and to confront whether the truth was important enough to the knight to plunge the country into a civil war.
Croll travelled with Tyon to The Tourney at Fairstrand 441KS, where Tyon, the remaining members of Sola's Vanguard, and the Foxworths and their allies sprang a trap on the The Queen's Knights, Prince Dalran Somercrag and ser Mitchar Hespeak, taking the princes as hostages in the hope of forcing Queen Malina's hand. He remained at Faircastle as Tyon's forces marched on the rest of Somercrag, leaving his son to act as his Steward until the war was done.
Duke Croll was one of six Dukes and Duchesses to recognise Tyon's ascension to the throne of The Kingdom of Somercrag.
Following the war Croll returned to Castle Blackbar. When Tyon formed Royal Council he agreed to send his former Ward and daughter-by-law Alise as his Proxy on the council in an attempt to repair the rift that had grown between the King and Alise's brother Erac Tallman following The Razing of Summerswind during the war.
In 452KS Croll died at the age of seventy-two.
