Banevae
Banevae is a fortified village located in the north east of Elderan, near the base of the Silver Mountains, and deep within the Silver Woodlands.
Banevae is under the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Lorth'elon, and is built next to the primary entrance to the Deepdark, the Banevae Gate, a large cave and tunnel that descends into the earth. Banevae is primarily a trade station, with expeditions descending into the Deepdark to extract it's unique resources, before returning to the surface to sell their findings in Banevae, which are then exported across the world through the trade network.
Banevae is in a position where it would allow trade between the Kingdom of Lorth'elon and the people of the Deepdark, though there are few Deepdark species that would be willing to trade. Instead Banevae is a fortress, built to defend against attack from the Children of Arachne and the Deeftgar Clans, who often attempt to invade Banevae and the surface in large raiding parties, using the Banevae Gate. Despite the danger and risk involved, the Banevae Gate is too valuable to remain closed, for now.
Government
Banevae is governed by a Prefect, who is appointed by the Kingdom of Lorth'elon.
Defence
Banevae is defended by a large garrison of Silver Hand, the local guard of the Kingdom of Lorth'elon.
Banevae is also known to fund the aid of mercenaries in the defence of the fortress, which is a dangerous, yet lucrative job. These mercenaries are also hired to defend expeditions into the Deepdark.
Commerce:
Banevae has a lucrative export of Deepdark resources, such as unique minerals and plants, which are acquired by the local expeditions that descend into the Deepdark, giving Banevae access to rare and exotic goods that can not be as easily found anywhere else in Exorsia.
Banevae also has a small lumber trade which is cultivated from the nearby Silver Woodlands.
Geography
Banevae is located at the base of the Silver Mountains, and is surrounded by the Silver Woodlands. Banevae is split into two districts, the village and the fortress.
The village is located a minute south of the fortress, within the Silver Woodlands itself. It is a trade post, surrounded by a stone wall, which contains numerous wood and stone buildings, a mix of markets, taverns and lodging houses.
The fortress is a large stone structure, located directly on the Banevae Gate, in the shadow of the Silver Mountains, and at the edge of the Silver Woodlands. Within the fortress is the entrance to the Deepdark, which is sealed by a large, steel door. The door opens up onto the fortress courtyard, which is looked over by four, stone towers and fortified walls, with a pair of steel portcullises barring the exit from the courtyard. The fortress itself contains a barracks for the soldiers, as well as a well stocked armoury and storeroom.
