Deeftgar Clans

The Deeftgar Clans, more colloquially called just the Deeftgar, are a powerful monarchy that rule a large portion of the Deepdark. The monarchy shares its name with the Deeftgar Dwarves, who makeup the majority of it's population,

It is unknown how much culture is shared between the Deeftgar clans and the Dwarves of the surface as not much is known about Deeftgar culture, or even their current "Deepking", who is believed to a reclusive figure, fearful of assassination, but rumours claim that the "Deepking" is a descendant of Skapari himself.

The Deeftgar Clans are primarily a Monachal Patriarchy, with the title of King passed down through the male bloodline. Women Deeftgar are rarely seen and don't serve as soldiers. There are so few records of female Deeftgar it is a common joke in the Kingdom of Dun’Vol that there are no female Deeftgar.

Deeftgar also seem to have a tradition of tattoo-like branding, similar in style to the Tattoos practiced within the population of the Triumvirate of Kahz Molduhr, but the symbolism and meaning of these tattoo-like brands, are a mystery.

The Deeftgar Clans are known to be notorious slavers, owning a vast number of slaves that are worked to the bone in order to build tools and buildings for the Deeftgar, as well as to work the mines in order to mine riches for the clan's leaders. The most common of these slaves are Deep Gnomes.

The Deeftgar clans are also incredibly xenophobic, they hate everyone who isn't a Dwarf, and believe that Dwarves are the superior species, with the Deeftgar as the superior breed of Dwarf. They use this as justification for the slavery of other species, as well as the countless violent crimes and raids they commit against other peoples.

The Deeftgar clans often come into conflict with the Dark Elves of the Children of Arachne, fighting over territory, supplies and slaves. But they have also been known to form temporary alliances in order to fight mutual threats or to raid surface settlements. The Deeftgar have also been known to ally with clanless Dwarves, known as “Vargrimst”, particularly the Dûrgmust Kur crime syndicate.

Government

The Deeftgar Clans are all governed by Deepking, a monarch who wields absolute power, and who's title is passed down the male line. It is believed that the Deepking governs alongside a council of advisors and generals that do most of the actual governing.

Settlements under the control of the Deeftgar Clans are governed by the Clan Leaders, the elder patriarch of the most powerful family in the settlement. The Clan Leaders also serve as military generals. This title is also passed down the male line.

Military & Local Guard

The Deeftgar Clans are defended by a military force. It is believed that every male clans member is trained in combat and can be called on at any time to serve in the military. The soldiers then all serve under the Clan Leader, who in turn serves the Deepking.

The Deeftgar military often raid Deepdark settlements, as well as the surface.

Religion

The Deeftgar Clans almost exclusively worship Skapari, the Dwarven Patron God, worship of most other Gods are outlawed. The worship of Skapari is believed to be heavily enforced within Deeftgar society.

The Deeftgar believe themselves to be the true chosen children of Skapari, that he is secretly aiding the Deeftgar, and that they are realising Skapari's master plan through conquering the Deepdark, and then all of Exorsia, enslaving all lesser species under the rule of Skapari.

Social Hierarchy

The social hierarchy of the Deeftgar Clans is largely unknown. It is believed that there is little no social climbing within Deeftgar culture, with most, if not all, important positions and titles are passed down the male line. The military is also believed to hold important station within society.

Deeftgar Women are also believed not to be considered part of the class system, and are exclusively represented by their male caretaker, either their father or husband. Women without a caretaker are probably not considered citizens and have a social status equivalent to slaves.

Non-Deeftgar are also believed to be unable to become citizens, with all Non-Deeftgar within Deeftgar settlements being slaves.

Legal System & Laws

The legal system of the Deeftgar Clans is unknown. But it is speculated that all legal situations are brought before the local Clan leader or the Deepking directly.
