Fliral
(a.k.a. Flora)
Fliral is the element of all flora, one among ten Erlithmanil. She is a revered element across Emynea and her Kaithur are both widespread and valued, especially in Musi Kongo and the Continent Beyond. Her counterpart is Lunil of fauna and the two of them get along the best out of all of the elements! Like all other Erlithmanil, Fliral has five aspects which express her element and abilities. These aspects are Barnok, Maroksi, Torrym, Ithgalem and Lithyr. Barnok is the aspect of cultivated fruit, material crops and all agriculture. Maroksi is the aspect of grassland plants such as shrubs, grasses and creeping plants. Torrym is forest plants such as trees, climbing vines, ferns and mosses. Ithgalem is the aspect of all aquatic plants, freshwater or saltwater. And last is Lithyr, the aspect of wild fruit, herbs and flowers.
Fliral has a vibrant and soothing personality but she also has an air of mystery. She can be gentle, quiet and relaxed and she forms deep relationships. To her allies, she offers a safe haven, comfort and an open ear, ever ready to and discrete as she listens to their woes. Much like Ylithuum Fliral is steadfast and nurturing but she can also be grim, detached and apathetic depending on circumstance. People are often surprised by her close friendship with Dalyeric, acting like sisters and bringing out the best in each other. Fliral has a talent for reminding the hasty Dalyeric to slow down. But perhaps what onlookers find the most mysterious and surprising is that Fliral is actually deaf. While Fliral is capable of being able to hear, all divine readily altering their physiology as they wish to, she prefers a quiet perception of the world. She loathes sound, finding the world entirely too loud and overwhelming unfiltered. For her own peace of mind, Fliral renders herself deaf and prefers to communicate via sign langauge but is also skilled in lip reading in many languages! FamiliarThe elegant Sequoyah is Fliral's Elemental Familiar, working to revive her master after the Downfall of the Erlithmanil. Originally, Sequoysah was a maned wolf and is among the original ten familiars serving Accia Syltharis. |
Appearance |
Fliral is tall, slender and long limbed and many would describe her as elegant and serene. She is most active in Suwarnadwipa and the Continent Beyond, alternating her appearance between different peoples living there. In fact, she often changes her skin tone too, sometimes lighter but most often darker. Fliral most enjoys long flowing clothes and bright colors, embellished with vibrant flowers, leaves or even fruit! |

Abilities |
Fliral is the source of all five of her aspects—she is flora itself, embodied. She can freely manipulate any of her aspects without limitation and is also able to temporarily cut off a plant caster from accessing her element, temporarily disabling their innate connection. However, Fliral cannot permanently disconnect a caster and it takes concentration to maintain. She also retains the ability to create new plant casters, temporary or otherwise. As the source of her element, she can freely come and go from her Elemental Planes and exert control over them. She can even become aware of anything occurring in these planes when shifting her awareness to them. However, most of these abilities are limited by whether or not she has a host body. Without a physical body, all of her activity is limited to her planes and her separate aspects. Fliral possesses all abilities and magic of her five Aspects. |
Aspects |
Barnok |
Barnok is the aspect of agriculture, of domesticated plants. This can include cultivated fruit and vegetables, grains and material crops. This is an understandably popular aspect to humanity and those with this Kaithur are valued farmers. Any plant which becomes domesticated will fall under this with the exception of wild fruit, herbs and flowers, Lithyr's domain.
|
Maroksi |
Maroksi is the aspect of grassland plants which includes grasses, sedges, shrubs and creeping vines. Desert and tundra plants once fell under this aspect but this was passed down to the Aethid Aasaru the Xeric.
|
Torrym |
Torrym is the aspect of forest plants whether these forests are alpine taiga, tropical or temperate. A wide variety of plants fall under torrym including trees, ferns, mosses, worts and climbing vines.
|
Ithgalem |
Ithgalem is the aspect of all aquatic plants. This is a widespread aspect which encompasses aquatic plants from across the planet whether they live in saltwater, freshwater or brackish environments. Plenty of people rely on this aspect's kaithur in order to thrive in underwater settlements!
|
Lithyr |
Lithyr is the aspect of herbaceous plants including flowers, herbs and wild fruit. While not a mental aspect, lithyr does have some psychological effects. This aspect is also equated to a goddess of beauty in many cultures!
|
Planes |
Each of Fliral's aspects have their own elemental plane. These planes overlay and exist parallel to the physical world, connecting anywhere and everywhere an aspect occurs. For some planes, this is static while others constantly ebb and flow as the aspect occurs and moves. For living aspects like Fliral, each organism in the physical world has a mirror or a shadow within their plane and each can act as a portal in and out for those capable of planar travel!
|
Personality |
Both intelligent and wise, her input carries great weight despite being a woman of few words (even when signing). She is unflappable, serene and peaceful and is particularly averse to violence. She will fight when she must but she would much rather find diplomatic solutions or to nullify threats entirely. When the world is uncertain or chaotic, she is the safe harbor and the hand planting seeds for the future. Yet at the same time, she can be extremely apathetic, distant and reclusive. She will readily turn a blind eye rather than take to violence and there are times she may remain totally detached, political or social matters too trivial to interest her. Her eyes are set forward, playing the long game and relying on both her vast experience and keen foresight!
|
Background |
Fliral is a source of comfort for the Erlithmanil and has a skill for forging strong, stable bonds. Hers were the roots which held their family steadfast, no matter what storm came. She would often play the mediator in disagreements amid their family as a voice of unflappable reason and wisdom. She would remind them to slow down and take time to heal or recenter themselves. This is why the rift between the Erlithmanil has been particularly hard on her.
|
Morality |
Fliral wishes to revive the Erlithmanil but also to heal the rift dividing them. She remains uncertain of how to do so, this rift only seeming to worsen as the centuries pass. Otherwise she is much like Dalyeric, not viewing human life as superior to others. She is after all the embodiment of plants and finds humans to be arrogant and self important--it isn't easy to change her mind either. She will rarely value human life over that of flora or even fauna, some of her decisions which seem questionable become more undertandable from this perspective.
|
Regrets |
Fliral feels personally responsible for allowing a schism to form amid the Erlithmanil. She has strong bonds with members on both sides of this rift and has done her best not to choose sides, always having no pallette for conflict. She has withdrawn and secluded herself far more than she ever has before, wounded by the aggression between her friends. She feels stuck, unwilling to take a side and unable to mend this wound.
|
Relationships |
Fliral is a rather neutral entity among her kind. She has strong relationships with both sides of this schism among the elements. Both Ylithuum and Dalyeric are like sisters to Fliral but she also enjoys the company of Lithmor and Wylrith. She doesn't always get along with Ferith or Raegeric, easily overwhelming her or pushing her around, but Rylis has a skill for pulling her out of her reclusion and revitalizing her.
|
Family |
Unlike other counterpart pairings in the Erlithmanil, Fliral and Lunil get along harmoniously! Like Lithmor and Zalikar, they are among the few to have committed to marriage despite their agelessness. Lunil and Fliral have the most stable and constant relationship among their kind, adaptable as the millenia pass them by. Of course, as counterparts they are very different from each other. Lunil is unpredictable and passionate in contrast to her quiet, serene persona. Yet they compliment each other well and, while their relationship is open to other partners, their marriage and chemistry is unwavering! This is perhaps why they have the most Aethid children including her eldest Banalkar, Malrot, Zuvaath and Aasaru. And she is rumored to have more children in other regions of Emynea!
