Fliral Character in Emynea | World Anvil

Fliral

(a.k.a. Flora)

Fliral is the element, flora. She is among the ten Erlithmanil and is the counterpart to Lunil, fauna. She is among the more popular elements but her blessings are far more common in the Continent Beyond and Isthmus of the Huntsman.

Like the other Erlithmanil, she possesses five aspects. Accians classify their plants differently to match these aspects and Fliral's aspects are generally divided by the biome they are evolved to survive in, with the exception of Lithyr. They are Barnok, Maroksi, Torrym, Ithgalem and Lithyr. Barnok is crops and harvest, domesticated plants. Maroksi is grassland plants. Torrym is forests plants. Ithgalem is aquatic plants. Lithyr is herbs, fruits and flowers.

Fliral has a vibrant and invigorating personality yet she also carries an air of mystery. She can be gentle, serene and relaxing to spend time with and she forms deep relationships. She is steadfast and nurturing like Ylithuum but can be dark, distant and apathetic when necessary. She offers a safe haven to others and people feel comfortable telling her their woes. People are often surprised by her close friendship with Dalyeric, they act like sisters much of the time and bring out the best in each other. Fliral has a talent for reminding her to slow down.

Fliral's elemental familiar is Sequoyah who was originally a maned wolf. They work towards the revival of the Erlithmanil.

Special abilities

by Lee Stepp

Fliral possesses all abilities and magic of her five aspects. These aspects are of crops/agriculture, grasslands, forests, aquatic plants and flowers and herbs. As the source of all plant magic, she can use her abilities as freely as she desires and without reservation.

by Lee Stepp

Barnok is the aspect of agriculture and domesticated plants, especially crops. This is a popular aspect with humanity and those with this magic are valued farmers. Any plant which becomes domesticated will fall under this with the exception of fruit, herbs and flowers, Lithyr's domain.

by Lee Stepp

Maroksi is the aspect of grasslands, all plants which call these biomes home falling under this aspect. Deserts and Tundras once fell under this aspect but there is rumor of an Aethid which inherited these classifications.

by Lee Stepp

Torrym is the aspect of forests and all plants which grow in them whether these forests are alpine taiga, tropical rainforest or temperate deciduous. The lines between Maroksi and Torrym can blue at times.

by Lee Stepp

Ithgalem is the aspect of all aquatic plants, freshwater or saltwater. Lithyr is the aspect of flowers, fruit and herbs. This bleeds into the other aspects more than any other. Unlike most of the Erlithmanil, Fliral and Lunil do not have mental aspects.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

by Lee Stepp

Fliral is a source of comfort for her allies and has a skill for forging strong, stable bonds. Hers were the roots which held their family steadfast, no matter what storm came. She would often play the mediator in disagreements amid their family as a voice of unflappable reason and wisdom. She would remind them to slow down and take time to heal or recenter themselves. This is why the rift between the Erlithmanil has been particularly hard on her.

Failures & Embarrassments

by Lee Stepp

Fliral feels personally responsible for allowing a schism to form amid the Erlithmanil. She has strong bonds with members on both sides of this rift and has done her best not to choose sides, always having no pallette for conflict. She has withdrawn and secluded herself far more than she ever has before, wounded by the aggression between her friends. She feels stuck, unwilling to take a side and unable to mend this wound.

Intellectual Characteristics

by Lee Stepp

Fliral is both intelligent and wise but she is also a woman of few words. She is calm, serene and peaceful and is particularly averse to violence. She will fight when she must but she would much rather find diplomatic solutions or to nullify threats entirely. When the world is uncertain or chaotic, she is the safe harbor, planting seeds for the future. Yet at the same time, she can be extremely apathetic, distant, cold and reclusive. She will readily turn a blind eye rather than take to violence and there are times she may seem cold, emotional matters too trivial to her.

Morality & Philosophy

by Lee Stepp

Much like Dalyeric, Fliral does not view human life as superior to other lifeforms. She is after all the embodiment of plants and finds humans to be arrogant and self important. She will rarely value human life over that if flora or even fauna, some of her decisions seeming questionable until one understands this view.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

by Lee Stepp

Fliral wishes to revive the Erlithmanil but also to heal the rift dividing them. She remains uncertain of how to do so, this rift only seeming to worsen as the centuries pass.

Social

Contacts & Relations

by Lee Stepp

Fliral is a rather neutral entity among her kind. She has strong relationships with both sides of this schism among the elements. She and Dalyeric have always been very close but the same could also be said for she and Ylithuum. Lithmor enjoys spending time with Fliral as well, a bright and invigorating ally for when she has become to apathetic or reclusive. She has a lot in common with Wylrith as well and is a grounding force for Rylis. It is only Ferith who becomes impatient with Fliral and finds her cold.

Family Ties

by Lee Stepp

Fliral is mother to many Aethid, some only known through myth so far. Banalkar was her first child while Malrot and Zuvaath are much younger.
