HB Session 10: A Bad Day for Seagulls

General Summary

Month 5, Week 3, Year 924
With just a week to spare in Nekutalin before joining Argus on his raid, the Holy Boaters made full use of their time on land. Yel'ah met with the Handgun liaison Alice Quickly about getting a sturdier shield, but the only one they had in stock had gotten covered in a thick black ooze similar to the material that the party had discovered the mask in aboard Donatella's ship. Clover expressed some worry about the shield being cursed, but Yel'ah couldn't pass up on such a great deal (just 50GP for an uncommon magic item!).   Meanwhile Noodles finished crafting a hand mortar with Dranatha, tasked with a simple favor in return for the blue dragonborn's continued collaboration: challenge somebody to a duel to the death. Noodles found his target at a skeevy tavern, and the following day at lunchtime the bullywug filled the guy with holes while his party members watched from the stadium seats. Dranatha's descriptions were vague, but the man appeared to be some kind of industrialist with a history of scandals back in the port town of Argenthrix. She gave Noodles plenty of questions to think about, and after Shazir had fired Knuckles and replaced him with a handsome half-orc fisherman the Holy Boaters were ready to set sail once more.    Month 5, Week 4 - Month 6, Week 2, Year 924
It took three weeks of sailing for the party to reach its destination, a point in the Karaga Sea off the coasts of Glace and the Treeleaf Union where the party would be intercepting the Sardivelian vessel. The hot summer sun shimmered over the water and made ship work a humid and grueling affair, but the crew's morale stayed high throughout the journey.    Early on the Holy Boater was assaulted by a swarm of thousands upon thousands of seagulls, greedily biting at any breadsticks in sight. The seagulls would've torn the Boater's sails to shreds if it wasn't for Muireann's quick thinking, who lured them all to their deaths with a pot of macaroni and her 'Spirit Guardians' spell. Clover was not pleased, but she had other things to worry after she caught Yel'ah acting strange in the latrines.    Later on the Boaters came across a ship covered in a thick layer of snow and frost despite the summer heat, without a single soul on board. The party cautiously stepped below decks, discovering a bullywug frozen to death next to the ship's log describing the first half of its ill-fated voyage. The ship was set to deliver large amounts of tea from the Kawa Clan capital of Ichigo to Gameria a continent away, but the ship quickly started experiencing strange phenomena on their way past the Koulan Forests. It was around this point that Clover started hearing voices, realizing that the Feywild was involved in the disappearance of this ship's crew. After hauling the barrels of tea on board the Holy Boater, the party quickly left the ghost ship in its wake and continued on its voyage.
