HB Session 4: Violent Storms
General Summary
Month 3, Week 2, Year 924
Having crashed into the side of the Parmesan, the Holy Boaters raced aboard and started hacking their way through its crew while dodging spells from Cpt. Donatella and her tabaxi first mate. Sarek's 'Suggestion' failed to convince the Captain to surrender peacefully, and he was quickly overwhelmed by bolts of arcane energy and blows from the crew before getting knocked unconscious. Muireann helped bring him back from the brink, meanwhile Shazir and Yel'ah raced ahead to defend their yuan-ti helmsman from the barrage of attacks. Noodles continued firing pot shots from the deck of the Holy Boater, and Clover's 'Moonbeam' gave Dontatella and First Mate Coursing Rivers plenty of grief. After several intense moments of fighting with a storm raging all around them, the Boaters finally got close enough to Captain and First Mate to start returning the favor for all the attacks from earlier in the fight. Coursing Rivers absorbed some of the damage lobbed against Donatella, but Shazir saw an opportunity when the barrage of attacks finally caused Rivers to collapse. Pressing a blade to the tabaxi's throat, the yuan-ti proved persuasive enough to ensure Donatella's surrender and the peaceful takeover of the Parmesan. Donatella appeared bitter from the defeat, but she still answered questions about the items discovered below deck and explained to the Boaters how upon her release she'd be demoted and reassigned to a new ship in the Sardivelian navy to continue fighting pirates like them. Still mulling over the captain's fate, the Boaters set about exploring the riches brought back from the distant continent of Rana: an assortment of maps, magic items, gold pieces, even a giant turtle claw from one of Rana's kaiju provided the pirates with plenty of treasure to celebrate a successful raid. Later on Cpt. Dolooloobogg assembled his officers to show them a peculiar item he'd discovered in the captain's quarters, a stone container full of nothing but a thick black ooze and a single white mask. Cpt. Donatella mentioned that the mask dated back to the days of Old Myltev, but Noodles had a bad reaction to touching the item when trying to identify its powers. 'Man is least himself when he talks in his own person,' Noodles said, speaking like a bullywug possessed. 'Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.'
