Sarek Zureth

A male yuan-ti and helmsman aboard the Holy Boater. A smuggler with a spotted past, he's been sailing with Cpt. Dolooloobogg for eighteen months avoiding enemies from his past life. In the fall of 924 he was appointed by Dolooloobogg as the new captain of the Holy Boater, renaming the ship Coursing Venom and sailing around the Karaga Sea forging alliances to improve New Tolball's position in the face of Sardivelian opposition.

Personal history

Sarek grew up in the remote kingdom of Sheyuan, leaving home to become an adventurer and learn more about the outside world. But tragedy hit his party after a disastrous run-in with a pack of mindflayers, one of them infecting Sarek with a tadpole that granted him many magic powers and abilties. He used these powers in the early 920's as a smuggler throughout the Campanel Desert, but he turned to a life of piracy after drawing the ire of one lawman too many and needed to disappear from certain cities. 
He sailed with Cpt. Dolooloobogg aboard the Holy Boater for a couple years, putting his smuggling skills to good use negotiating with other pirates and evading the notice of Sardivelia's Avventuri. In the summer of 924 the Boaters had a successful series of raids, thanks in large part to Sarek's powers of deception and disguise. He fooled Sardivelian officers and nobles alike, settling an old score with the Vivaldi Family after they'd stolen a magic item from him. His crowning achievement came in Orem when he lured the wealthy Arjahn Kazemi into a trap in the waters of the Karaga Sea, stealing everything from his ship and obtaining a piece of Dragon God-King for Argus. His deceptive tactics kept him a low profile and even lower bounty, but he became a close ally for several of his fellow Boaters like Shazir.
His exploits caught the attention of some powerful people in the pirate capital of Nekutalin, including the veteran smuggler Seraphina Altera. With her connections Sarek became an influential diplomat on behalf of New Tolball, brokering deals with William Fintuna and the other sahuagin city-states to expand to secure the kingdom's position against Sardivelian aggression. By the late 920's Sarek had become one of the most distinguished pirates in Pescaliat, with many of his contemporaries either dead or in hiding due Sardivelia's ruthless anti-piracy campaigns.
