GHG Session 43: Anything for Some Diamonds
General Summary
Month 1, Week 1, Year 919
Several hours after the party's defeat of Ownka Ramm and her camp of Gruumsh-worshiping lizardfolk, the Fortunate Five began setting up night watches and planning out their return to Sanjuro City. It was easy to fortify the camp to better the serve the party's interest, and Ys summoned Loopmottin to ensure a speedy trip back to Chusei University. Agreeing to a 3,000GP/mo subscription deal with the gnome (in addition to a 250GP sign-up fee), Zan'kiri would have access to three uses of the 'Teleport' spell every month and avoid another rigorous trek through the Koulan Forests. Ys and Bubbles settled into first watch, poisoning Windred with a fusion spaghetti and minty nutella dish as they prepared for the evening. But the night's vibes were interrupted by a ghost from Ys' past: Theo Vechian, with nearly a dozen well-dressed businessmen in tow. The half-elf complimented the party on their victory against Ownka, demanding all of the party's diamonds upon threat of violence. To sweeten the deal Theo had Log's head tossed over the palisades, the lizardfolk having jumped out of the party's fire and into the frying pan of Theo's forces. The half-elf outlaw gave the FF several minutes to think over his offer, which the party promptly used to reinforce their defenses and even convince Loopmottin to join the fight. So by the time Theo's businessmen started climbing and flying over the gates, there was nothing but arcane carnage and caltrops waiting for them. More than half of Theo's forces remained stuck at the main gate by Bubbles' 'Hunger of Hadar', but an invisible Theo managed to race up to the base of the ziggurat and start harassing the party with violent blows and cutting words. He tried to seduce fighters like Xa'kara with his maddening words, and Reetma and Ys were both nearly felled by the odious drones of some of the more musically gifted businessmen. But not even the powers of an archfiend can contend with a well-structured defense, Theo's forces too divided and spread out to overwhelm the party. Zan'kiri's horde of rogue zombies distracted most of the flightless businessmen along with Theo's simulacrum, while Teherse'singh and Windred defended their allies near the interior gates. Reetma was quickly revived by his allies, managing to deliver the killing blow to Theo Vechian and witnessing the half-elf's body collapse into a pile of charcoal-gray ash. Only a handful of businessmen remained to be dealt with, but one of them delivered a parting gift to Ys in the form of a 'Feeblemind' spell...
