Ravenna (Rah-ven-nah)

The Aspec t of Shadow

"The Shadow by it's very nature is chaotic and destructive. It does not create, but instead corrupts, and while it offers the temptation of great power, once it's tendrils are within your soul, it is impossible to walk away unscathed."
Kilroy Thumperdiddle
A Systemic Examination of the Shadow

One of the Divines, Ravenna was born in the The Time of Creation to Iskarne and Xultar. Ravenna fought alongside her father against her mother and her siblings in the War of the Divines. After she was defeated and her parents fell, her siblings forgave her in the interest of peace, and she joined them in Orobeus as her brother Vraekar was crowned the Lord of Creation.
At the beginning of the Dawn Age, each of her siblings gave great gifts to their parents creation, and Ravenna was no exception. Ravenna created the night and it's creatures, and railed against the creation of Arishanne's sun, which only ended with Vraekar's intervention, creating the moon and the stars. Ravenna fought valiantly alongside her siblings during the Chaos Wars, and was alongside her brother Charon when Aeos the Timelord cast him out, setting off the conflict. She contributed heavily, and was present during their eventual victory and the imprisonment of Khazmijir and his Primordials.
The defeat of the primordials ushered in a long era of peace and prosperity to the Known Realms known as The Golden Age. Under the leadership of her brother Vraekar the Divines set down upon the task of finishing their parents creation. As they went about ruling the universe, Vraekar eventually seduced his sister Ravenna, and together they had two children, the Elder Gods Eltax and Belegor. While there was at times jealousy when Vraekar then seduced and lay with Arishanne, for the most part the Divines lived in peace and harmony, until the The Godswar began.
The Godswar began after Ravenna returned from her mysterious meeting with the Prince of Chaos much changed. Little is known about these centuries she spent beyond the Nether Abyss after her wanderings, but what we do know is what she did when she returned. Incensed at Arishanne and Vraekar together, she crept into their room as they slept and murdered her brother. Raging at her sisters actions, Ravenna and Arishanne marshalled their forces together despite their sister Celestine's objections. It was during this centuries-long battle that Ravenna created the Pits of Despair as well as the Demonlords.
These new powers and the battle that raged between them however set the universe out of balance, and thus Charon awoke from his slumber and returned. Enraged at the actions of both of his sisters, he was furious that they would risk their parent's creation for their own petty machinations. He was so furious that he invited both Ravenna and Arishanne back to Orobeus to speak of peace, and when it became obvious that no accord could be reached, he reaped them both. It was thus that Ravenna's existence ended, and her spirit transcended her physical body, her hatred becoming embodied with The Shadow, enacting the lingering will of the dead Divine Ravenna. More on the Shadow, as well as other worship around it, can be found on the page, The Shadow.

Circle of Shadows- Most prominent within the Felidar Imperium, Yevren and other places where the Shadow holds sway, the Circle of Shadows is comprised of a cabal of warlocks, clerics, priests and other mages who draw upon the Shadow for their power. Fueled by raw ambition, members of the Circle are driven to accumulate as much power as possible, often at the expense of others, or even their own members. They are often cruel and unforgiving, and can often be found acting as priests amongst those regions controlled by the forces of darkness.
