Tishdakalar Character in Earedar | World Anvil

Tishdakalar (Tish-dak-ah-lahr)

The Dragon Queen, The Destroyer, Mistress of Pain, Mekariel

"The greatest tragedy of the struggle against the Shadow is the corruption of the Dragon Twin Tishdakalar during the Emerald Age. On the verge of final victory over the darkness, the forces of the Light were forced to swallow their bile as they were made to watch the one they once called sister devastating their armies and kindling the ancient conflict anew."
Kilroy Thumperdiddle
A Systemic Examination of the Shadow

Born from the decaying flesh of Vraekar himself during The Godswar, Tishdakalar is one of the youngest of the Elder Gods. Known as the Dragon Queen or the Mistress of Pain, Tishdakalar has been a constant presence on the battlefields of the Nether Abyss against The Light. She is also known to the peoples of the Xa'a Empire as Mekariel, Destroyer of Worlds.
Tishdakalar fought valiantly in the Godswar alongside her twin brother Bahamut as well as her half-brothers Helmvor and Tisrendel against The Shadow. Tishdakalar gained a reputation as a fiend on the battlefield, rivaling even Bahamut in power and strength.
While originally in the Emerald Age she continued to fight against the Shadow after the passing of her aunt Arishanne, she was lured into a trap alongside Bahamut as part of Eltax's plot to capture. Lured deep into Rancor by a feinted retreat, she was ambushed by Eltax and Belegor and captured. Thrown deep into the Pits of Despair, she suffered horribly for centuries before emerging fully corrupted by the Shadow. It was shortly thereafter that she created dragonkind as her servants, and unleashed them upon Earedar, where they would eventually found the First Vraekar Empire.
During the Age of Antiquity Tishdakalar continued her struggle in the Nether Abyss against the Light, but did not forget about her children. When Bahamut and his Order of the Golden Dragon began the High Hunt, she swore eternal vengeance against her brother and his followers, and shortly thereafter the Cult of the Rainbow Dragon was created. It was also during this time that Tishdakalar originally approached the peoples of the Xa'a Empire under her pseudonym, Mekariel.
During the Age of Shadows Tishdakalar fought alongside her new master Belros Azul, King of Hell. Left to defend their holdings in the Nether Abyss under the leadership of Djzargo, Tishdakalar chafed under the tight reign which Belros kept her under. Frustrated at her lowered status amongst the forces of the Shadow, she began plotting against Belros, and her machinations consume her to this day.

Faiths, Cults and Organizations

Cult of the Rainbow Dragon- Also known as the Shepherds of the Scale, the Cult of the Rainbow Dragon is an evil organization venerating the dead Divine Vraekar and his daughter Tishdakalar. Followers of the Rainbow Dragon believe that if Bahamut is defeated, his essence can be joined with their master Tishdakalar, whom they view as the manifestation of Vraekar's will, and that he will be reborn, ushering in a new golden age for dragonkind. This is of course false, and is due to the machinations of Tishdakalar herself, who seeks to use her followers in the Vraekar, including the Silver Dragon Emperor to free herself from the dominion of Belros Azul, King of Hell. The Cult of the Rainbow Dragon is most prevalent amongst the dragonlords of the Vraekar Empire.   Church of the Destroyer- The Church of the Destroyer venerates Mekariel, the Destroyer of Worlds, as the ultimate power of the cosmos who will one day come to Earedar, her arrival hailing the end of times and the ushering in of the kingdom of the faithful. Mekariel is an aspect of Tishdakalar, the face she presented to the peoples of the Xa'a Empire during the Age of Antiquity to pave the way for her coming there. Part of Tishdakalar's long term plans to free herself from the rule of the King of Hell, the followers of the Church have no idea to whom their true loyalties lie.   Circle of Shadows- Most prominent within the Felidar Imperium, Yvren and other places where the Shadow holds sway, the Circle of Shadows is comprised of a cabal of warlocks, clerics, priests and other mages who draw upon the Shadow for their power. Fueled by raw ambition, members of the Circle are driven to accumulate as much power as possible, often at the expense of others, or even their own members. They are often cruel and unforgiving, and can be found acting as priests and leaders amongst those regions controlled by the forces of darkness.
