Belegor (Bell-uh-gorr)

Lord of Destruction, The Fallen King, Demon-King

"And then a deep, sonorous voice reached out from beyond the Abyss and called to me. "Come hither, my child. For only amongst the deep and forgotten corners of the realms can true power be found." Gathering my courage, I stepped through the Black Gate, and thereafter found wonders beyond all imagination."
Revelations 2:13
The Black Bible

The youngest of the original Elder Gods, Belegor was the second son of Vraekar and Ravenna. Also known as the Lord of Destruction, or the Demon-King, Belegor forged the realm of Rancor in the Outer Realms for the Oruki and himself.
Belegor served his mother loyally during The Godswar, fighting alongside his brother Eltax. Belegor turned the entirety of his forces against The Light, famously giving his Oruki their cursed Bloodrage to fuel their conquest. Belegor gained fame as a fierce and relentless combatant, and often led the forces of The Shadow from the front. His famed Black Oruki were even more feared however, and often formed the shock troops of the forces of darkness.
Belegor continued in the conflict against The Light after the passing of his mother, alongside his brother. Wihtout the power of Ravenna however they were vastly overpowered, verging on defeat. Belegor assisted in his brother's plan to capture and corrupt the young Dragon Twin Tishdakalar, and succeeded in ambushing both her and her brother Bahamut. After spending centuries within his Pits of Despair, Tishdakalar emerged corrupted by the Shadow, and the three siblings were able to push the forces of the Light back to the Nether Abyss, bringing the conflict to a standstill that would last for generations.
Not all was good within the forces of the Shadow however, and cracks had begun to show in the alliance between Ghelebad and Rancor. Eltax, fresh off his successes with Tishdakalar and against the Light had become very frustrated with his brother Belegor, who was spending more and more time administering his realm of Rancor and keeping his newly forged Demonlords in line. Angered at his wandering focus and eager to seize his brother's power for his own, he began plotting against him. Eltax enlisted Kalzad, Lord of Suffering and ruler of the Sixth Layer of Hell in his conspiracy, as well as Aeltruad, Lord of Lies and ruler of the First Layer of Hell. The three of them plotted for over a century, however when they finally made their move, Eltax was betrayed. Aeltruad had informed Belegor of the plot, and just as it was put into action, Belegor, Tishdakalar and the other Demonlords moved against them. Overwhelmed by superior firepower, Kalzad was slain, and Eltax was captured. Aeltruad was rewarded for his efforts, promoted to the ruler of the Fourth Layer of Hell, and Eltax was imprisoned deep within the Pits of Despair. Thus was Belegor victorious over his brother, and named Supreme Ruler of the Shadow.
Belegor spent most of the Age of Antiquity split between the battlefronts of the Nether Abyss and at home strengthening his hold over the Demonlords while simultaneously boosting their power. Near the end of the Age their power would become so great, infused by the Pits of Despair that any one of them would be a match for two or more Archangels. While this increase in power did more than make up for the loss of his brother Eltax, it did fuel his fall, which would lead directly to the Age of Shadows.
It is Belegor's fall at the end of the Age of Enlightenment (or Antiquity) that we see the beginning of the Age of Shadows and the unleashing of the Infernal Crusade. Blind to the ambitious of the demonlord Belros Azul, Lord of Power and ruler of the First Layer of Hell, he did not see the alliance that had sprung up between Belros and Aeltruad as well as the demons Yzgaroth, Baphomet and Djzargo. When they finally found the Fist of the Father, they were able to use the artifact upon Belegor, greatly weakening him and thus allowing Belros to ascend as an Elder God, and King of Hell. Belegor then fled Rancor, and has since spent the time wandering the Outer Realms, seeking to regain his former power and throne.

Circle of Shadows- Most prominent within the Felidar Imperium, Yvren and other places where the Shadow holds sway, the Circle of Shadows is comprised of a cabal of warlocks, clerics, priests and other mages who draw upon the Shadow for their power. Fueled by raw ambition, members of the Circle are driven to accumulate as much power as possible, often at the expense of others, or even their own members. They are often cruel and unforgiving, and can be found acting as priests amongst those regions controlled by the forces of darkness.   Diabolus- An organization of demons, warlocks and other priests within Rancor and the Imperium dedicated to the restoration of Belegor to the Black Throne. Despising the pretender Belros Azul, they believe that only with the restoration of Belegor as King of Hell can the Shadow be triumphant over the Light. They are often persecuted by the Circle of Shadows, and can find no comfort either in lands controlled by the Light and the Shadow. Belros Azul hunts members of this highly secretive organization feverently, and has tasked the demonlord Yzgaroth with eliminating them completely.
