A companion of Belros Azul in his mortal life, Baphomet is one of the Demonlords of Rancor, ruler of the Sixth Layer of Hell and the Lord of hatred. Often taking the appearance of a large devil, it is said that Baphomet was a powerful barbarian and warrior during his mortal days. He ascended during the Age of Shadows, serving Belros as King of Hell. Baphomet is also known as the Juggernaut.

Baphomet was one of the first to join Belros' scheme to overthrow Belegor as the King of Hell, alongside Yzgaroth and Djzargo. Later they were joined by Aeltruad, and together they scoured the Nether Abyss for centuries, seeking the entrance to the lost realm of Orobeus. They were searching for a lost artifact known as the Fist of the Father, an item said to have the power to absorb another beings divine essence. Eventually they found Orobeus, and used the artifact against Belegor to allow Belros to aborb his power, and he ascended as the new King of Hell. Baphomet was rewarded for his loyalty with lordship over the Sixth Layer of Hell, arisen as a Demonlord and named the Lord of Hatred.

During the Infernal Crusade Baphomet would join Belros and Xantanas in their invasion of Delnakar, or the Shadow Realm. They would conquer that realm in less than a half century, and later Baphomet would reinforce Yzgaroth in his invasion of Earedar, landing at the place now known as Jikarel, laying waste to the Dragon Coast and the Khakari Wildlands. Baphomet is most famed during this time for his duel with Xenades, Archangel of Justice, where they fought each other to a draw in single combat. Since the ouster of the forces of The Shadow from the Inner Realms Baphomet has virtually lived on the battlefields of the Nether Abyss, ever eager to launch himself into another fray.

Uninterested in cultivating a following or a clergy, Baphomet is worshipped peripherally by those who desire his power and strength on the battlefield. Baphomet is much more interested in testing his skills in combat.

Circle of Shadows- Most prominent within the Felidar Imperium, Yvren and other places where the Shadow holds sway, the Circle of Shadows is comprised of a cabal of warlocks, clerics, priests and other mages who draw upon the Shadow for their power. Fueled by raw ambition, members of the Circle are driven to accumulate as much power as possible, often at the expense of others, including their own members. They are often cruel and unforgiving, and can be found acting as priests amongst thsoe regions controlled by the forces of darkness. They venerate Belros Azul above all others as the pinnacle of their ideals.
