The Time of Creation in Earedar | World Anvil

The Time of Creation

In the beginning, there was only Iskarne, the First Mother. Iskarne  roamed the cosmos for untold eons; nameless, faceless, and supreme. Within the First Mother all things were held together as one. Life, creation, magic, death, peace, love, and war. She was and is all things. But eventually Iskarne  grew tired of her solitary existence. Thus, she took the primordial essence of creation and crafted another being, a companion for herself. She named him Xultar

Iskarne and Xultar travelled the cosmos together for time immemorial. Together they begat creation, as well as five children. In each of their children they gave onto them a special gift. The eldest, Vraekar  the Aspect of Creation. Next came Charon , Aspect of Death. Then came the twins, Arishanne and Ravenna, the Aspects of Light and Shadow. Finally came the youngest, Celestine, the Aspect of Magic. Together while the First Mother and Xultar created the cosmos each of the children added to the Chorus, and later they came to be known as the Divines.

Over time however Iskarne realized that Xultar was different; he thought different, created differently and wanted different things. While both loved the act of creation, they went about it in fundamentally different ways. Iskarne in ordered methods, Xultar in utter chaos. Over time they grew apart, and it divided their children as well. They eventually came to blows, and this brutal struggle is known as the War of the Divines, and it was during this time that Xultar declared himself the first Prince of Chaos.

The war lasted millenia and shook the very fabric of existence. Xultar and Ravenna faced off against Iskarne and the rest of the children, and the battle raged across the Realms. In the end Xultar and Iskarne fell, locked in mortal struggle. As Xultar fell his spirit created the Nether Abyss; his body The Ether. As Iskarne fell her body became Earedar, her heart The Heavens and her bones the Outer Realms. As their remaining children wept over the bones, they began about taking up the task of creation in their parent's stead, Ravenna's transgression forgiven in the interest of peace. And so, began the Dawn Age.
