Charon (Car-on)
The Aspect of Death
"My research into unlocking the mysteries of death have led me inextricably to Charon and his followers, the Apostles of the End. Known in some cultures as the Lord of Death, to scholars we know him as the Aspect of Death, and the eldest of the remaining Divines. We know so little about him, aside from his avowed neutrality in the Eternal Conflict, and utter disinterest in the affairs of the Elder Races. Yet he holds the fate of each of our souls in his hands... and of our loved ones."Kilroy ThumperdiddleProfessor EmeritusEmberfall Academy
Second born of the Divines, Charon is the eldest living child of Iskarne and Xultar. Born in the The Time of Creation, Charon joined Vraekar and his mother in the War of the Divines against his father and his sister Ravenna. After his father was defeated and his parents fell, he stood at his brother Vraekar's right hand as he shepherded creation into the Dawn Age.
Charon's major contribution in the Dawn Age was the creation of Death. "All things must end, and it is only through Death that life is renewed." These were his words, and is now the dogma of the Apostles of the End, the mysterious organization dedicated to Charon, and the worship of death. After this, he began to wander the Nether Abyss with his sister Ravenna, discovering the amazing realms of creation, and adding a few touches of their own. But when they chanced upon Aeos the Timelord, everything would change, as the altercation left Charon out of time, and set off the Chaos Wars.
Charon would be cast out of time for more than an age, not found again until the beginning of the period known as The Godswar within the Nether Abyss. Held in a deep stasis within the catacombs of Orobeus, Charon slept, not to be awoken until the throes of battle between Arishanne and Ravenna threatened to tear the Known Realms asunder. When he could not broker a peace between the two of them, he reaped the both of them, in order to keep the peace and thus save creation. Devastated by what he had done, Charon retreated into the depths of Orobeus and sealed the realm away, refusing his elder brother's throne. Thus, Orobeus faded away from all knowledge, and the last Divine retreated into oblivion. While Charon still maintains the balance of Death through the Apostles of the End, he has not been seen outside of Orobeus or The Citadel of the Damned, his hold within The Ether.
