Born and raised to be true to himself, Oliver McKinney is a wildcard through and through. He play by his own rules and is not one to be messed with, especially when someone tries to order him around. While Oliver has a temper and always seems to start fights with arogant people, he can be quite the useful team member. Some might call him a "jack of all trades, master of none," which comes in handy whenever new dangers present themselves.
His unnatural talents of being a hybrid improve his strength, helping to overcome some of the worst predicaments he ends up in. Some unique hybrid abilities is being able to summon wolf ears and a long bushy wolf tail when his emotions take over, such as when he is angry or said. Sometimes, when he his happy, his tail will wag like an overexcited pup! Just don't anger this little firecracker of an ass-kicker.

To put it short, Oliver has a temper, which cannot be rivaled when his mate or family is in danger. Some might even want to say that Oliver has a tad-bit of Irish or Scottish in him (he doesn't) due to his attitude. His temper tends to land him in sticky situations that can be more harmful than good, such as starting fights with authoritative figures and calling people out for cowardice. The only things that calm him down are his parents, his adopted sibling, Funnel, and Deidrick Howl.
Even though his temper is a large part of him, Oliver is an overly emotional teenager. Whether he's getting an attitude or reacting to something that is emotionally damaging to him. For all of his life, Oliver was forced to kept to the shadows and never draw attention to himself. With only his parents and Funnel at his side, he didn't have anyone to rely on outside of his normal routine and household. While this doesn't condone his volitile reactions to those around him when they upset him, people should, at least, try to understand why Oliver acts the way he does.
Normally, Oliver is willing to comply by his family's rules, yet he started growing desperate for friendships after meeting Deidrick. Insecurity weighs heavily upon his mind as he contains a fear of being rejected by anyone, especially his mate. Getting close to a pack could result in people being in danger because of him. So, Oliver has trained his mind to rationalize that being a loner would be better and that his mate would be better off without him. The further he is from people, the better off they are. That would have saved his parents, right?
After the demise of his parents, Oliver slipped into a mindset that all rogues are after him and the packs would banish him the second they found out his heritage. Trusting others is out of the question, and if someone betrays him after earning his trust, it takes a good long while before Oliver will ever feel safe enough to trust them again. His sensitivity also gets him into trouble, so he tries to bury it underneath a layer of his anger to keep him protected. This is usually why he's so destructive with his attitude.

Trauma

From all the bullying, Oliver grew into a traumatized teenager with trust issues. He cannot handle being close to others and rarely shows his true feelings toward someone. It took Deidrick pestering Oliver nonstop before Oliver even glanced twice at him.
The physical bullying he received from school kids at others schools left him with an ax to grind. It is one of the main reasons his anger started to bottle up until it exploded. Because of this, Oliver realized he couldn't hold his anger back, so he always lets his anger out, even on unsuspecting people.
On May 18^th, 2019 AD, Oliver witnessed his dad's untimely death at the hands of Ignatius Williams. Watching the gruesome scene, sent him into a spiraling descent and he attempted to kill Igantius. Unfortunatey, he was knocked unconscious and awoke in a pool of his mom's blood, and both his mom and dad's bodies were gone. Oliver quickly gathered a few sets of clothes and fled into the night with Funnel. To this day, he still has reoccuring nightmares of the attack.

School

Since Oliver has always had a rough childhood with switching to a new school almost every year of his life, he has had no time to grow into any friendships. The only being that comes close to a friend is Funnel. However, after losing his parents and starting to live with Dr. Warrick, Oliver has now been enrolled at Silver Valley Academy (he absolutely loathes the uniforms) as a ninth grader. He is an average C- student, although he could easily be an A++ student. Oliver just doesn't like pushing himself as he perfers to stay under the radar, much to his parents' dismay.

Oliver rolled his eyes and looked at Alpha Rokomo with a groan.

Oliver McKinney: "Can't I just fight him already? The fucking dickbag needs to get his dick ripped off and shoved up his spoon-fed ass."

Chris Williams: "What was that, pipsqueak?"

Chris snarled, taking a step forward. Sparks of yellow lightning zapped at his fingertips.
Letting out a hollow laugh, Oliver stood up and let his own electricity running over his fur like currents. He kept his mouth shut, yet managed to look intimidating long enough for a few pack members to back away. Even Deidrick took a few steps back. However, Oliver refused to take his eyes off of Chris while they held a silent battle with their eyes. Alpha Rokomo sighed and stepped forward.

Rokomo Williams: "Alright! Both of you, get your acts together. If you want to fight each other, you may. But there is a place for such things and even ground rules."

Chris growled.

Chris Williams: "I don't need any rules. This mutt needs to learn his place if he's to be in the pack!"

Oliver crouched, stiffening his tail out from his body in a straight line. He snarled and paced slowly around Chris, looking for the right opportunity to strike. One wrong move and it would lights out for him against an Alpha Heir ranked wolf. Planning was his only way to win such a battle. Chris returned the cold anger between them and tore off his leather jacket, throwing it at Adged before dropping to all fours and shifting into a giant white wolf. He wasn't anything to be proud of, like the night before. In the dark, Chris was intimidating. Now, Oliver puffed out his fur, rose his hackles, and drew his lips over his teeth with a snarl.

The only problem with joining a new school is that Oliver has a habit of starting fights and being a loner. He only agreed to go to this school because of its paranormal education that Dr. Warrick was persistant Oliver should study.
Each student at Silver Valley Academy must wear a uniform that fits within school guidelines. Oliver detested having to wear such a thing, but he doned the uniform while mentally swearing to get back at Dr. Warrick for making him wear such a thing.

Oliver is a pro at cooking, just like his granddad. While it is embarrassing when he's outted, he can still cook. His only problem is trying to keep a lid on it, so nobody tries to exploit him or make fun of him.
Anything having to do with insects (such as Funnel or Zairtah, whom he gets in book 2 of the Shadows Saga), he will know about it. Now, if they are poisonous or deadly in some other way, Oliver will be keen to own one since he's immune to poison/venom.
Training is a great source for Oliver to blow off steam, but fighting in general is what he's best at. People piss him off all the time, so he's ready to get dirty and spill some blood (preferably the other person's blood).

He enjoys using insectoid magick is his ultimate favorite thing to do as he can grow bug appendages! However, most people are frightened of insects, so Oliver keeps this part of himself locked away and uses it when circumstances call for it.
Whether Oliver admits it or not, he is a pro with video gaming. Speedruns in horror games are his favorite things to do while gaming, as it is one way he can let loose his pent up energy. Oliver also chooses to stay under the radar so he doesn't get caught by those who either a) don't wish for a hybrid to exist, or b) would do whatever it takes to control a hybrid as their personal weapon.

Oliver was born on September 23rd, 2005 AD in a quiet little shack somewhere on the east coast of the USA. His parents, Lisa McKinney and Jared McKinney knew that they were not accepted as mates due to his mom being a lycan and his dad being a half-shifter, or someone with the ability to shift into any canis form, such as wolf, dog, fox, jackal, etc. Due to his parents being unaccepted by all sides of their species, they decided to live their lives out in the wild with only their wits to guide them.
This allowed Oliver to grow up by hopping all over the country, never sticking around in one place for too long to make friends. Sadly, all this did was leave Oliver feeling lonely and turning to insects because of his weird behaviors around people. He also retreated into himself, becoming an introvert the longer he went without friendships.
When he was 4-years-old, Oliver and his parents went to a zoo, where Oliver managed to sneak his way into the exhibits and play with the insects they had on display. One of those insects was a female Australian Sydney funnel-web spider. Well, what happened next involved her sac of eggs hatching and Oliver playing with the babies. His parents managed to spot him through the glass and nearly had a heart attack and called for help. When the employees of the zoo got Oliver away from the spider, they checked to see if he had been bitten. When he was given the all clear, his parents paid for any damages and grounded Oliver for scaring them so badly.

By the time they got home, They were shocked to discover Oliver playing with a really tiny spider that Oliver called "Funnel." What really pushed them into another panic attack was this was a baby Sydney funnel-web and Oliver was showing zero signs of distress. Reluctantly, they let him keep her after Oliver convinced them that he was immune to poison (he had already tested it when he was two-years-old by ingesting bleach and having zero side effects).
By the time Oliver was 12-years-old, he had a hard time speaking to people naturally. The school he was in has a particular group of bullies that loved to pick on him. One day, they decided to amp-up their usual bullying on him, but it didn't go over too well. For a large portion of his time at the school, Oliver would carry his pet, Funnel, around in the hood of his hoodie. Soon enough, Funnel had bitten one of the bullies and Oliver was able to escape with her. His parents had to quickly transfer him to another school on the other side of the country because the police were out searching for him since the bitten bully died from Funnel's venom. This only pushed Oliver further into his reclusiveness to where he only spoke with his parents and did whatever he had to protect them.
