Northam

You climb the last hill on the road toward rising chimney smoke and the town comes into view. Beyond a simple palisade, the half-timbered houses look clean and crisply plastered. The streets' cobblestones have only started to show ruts where carts traverse the most. Window boxes full of decorative flowers bloom in many windows. Farmers moving carts full of tools or produce greet each other as they pass, but give you wary looks when they see you coming.   Northam is a bustling town built along Little Creek on the north side of the lake. Its pub is famous with travelers for the quality of its namesake dish, the Trout-n-Waffles, invented by its current proprietor, Leeta Kane.   Most of the town was built within the last 30 years, after Old Northam was abandoned. An influx of farmers from distant parts of the Empire after the new farm was built created a population boom in the once-sleepy village.   The Northam Farm is the largest in the province. Locals supplement their bountiful grain harvests with fish and freshwater clams from the creek.   After nearby Clay Hill Manor was sacked, most of its library was relocated to the Northam Temple for safekeeping.
