Thostyr Lake
This large lake was long believed to be either haunted or enchanted, depending on who you asked.
In recent decades, the lake's magical nature has become more apparent and much more dangerous. The fish that once lived in it have all perished. Towns on its shores similarly dried up. For years, its water has become dangerous to even touch. (Thankfully, the tributary streams don't share the lake's properties.)
Thostyr Lake is now known by a more sinister name: Lake Madness.
The Lake's exact properties are a mystery, but those who come into contact with it are always changed. Most change for the worse--their bodies are hideously, painfully deformed. A few succumb to the magic and die on the spot. A few, though, are changed for the better. There are rumors of animals drinking from the lake and coming away bigger and stronger, and of people coming away surging with arcane power.
((A note from your GM: Interacting with Lake Thostyr is very risky. It can benefit you, but it can also spell the immediate end of your character. Treat it with the respect you would give a Deck of Many Things.))

Fauna & Flora
Nothing lives in the lake anymore. Animals that try to drink from the lake often end up slain or magically twisted. Even the grass and trees nearby are withered and dry.
