Greenhammer Delve

An ancient, moss-covered wooden sign reads, "Greenhammer Delving Co." It hangs over a massive, twenty-foot-wide tunnel entrance that's been shored up with an enormous keystone archway. Elves and dwarves, most wearing aprons and heavy boots, come and go and nod pleasantly as they pass. The inside of the Delve is a chaotic hodgepodge of homes and shops cut into the rock by the main tunnel. In one open-fronted forge, you see four generations of dwarves chatting merrily while taking turns at the anvil.   Greenhammer Delve began its life as an iron mine to provide materials for the local dwarves and the Empire. The iron ore hasn't run out in three centuries, and the Delve just keeps getting deeper. It's unclear when the mine was originally dug, but the town's earliest records date back over 300 years.   During the Wood and Stone War, the people of the Delve capitulated early and were spared much of the Emperor's wrath. It is an odd community now, dug with Imperial technology refined by Dwarven craftsmanship, decorated with Elven sensibilities and managed with Gnomish ingenuity.   What began as a strained relationship between displaced imperial elves and a local dwarf tribe has turned into a strong and lasting alliance. The alliance even goes as far as their craftsmanship--there is a hybrid of elven woodworking and dwarven smithing techniques called titharforging that is famous across the Empire. Titharforging was originally used to make beautiful furniture and stringed instruments, but recently the techniques have been applied to weapon and armorcraft as well.

LEGACY INFORMATION

Delver (regional trait) When Aiding Another, you grant an additional +1 bonus. You gain a +1 trait bonus to two Craft skills of your choice, and they are always class skills for you.   Titharforging (feat) Requires 3 ranks in both Craft (Carpentry) and Craft (Blacksmithing). Must be trained by another crafter with this feat.   Anything that could be crafted out of metal or wood, that you have at least 1 rank in the requisite Craft skill for, can be crafted out of both.   The base cost of a Titharforged item is three times the cost of a normal item of its kind.   The resulting item:
  • doesn't count as either metal or wood for any game effect except for class restrictions.
  • defeats DR as cold iron if it's a weapon.
  • has Hardness 8 and hit points as if it were made of wood(but see below for masterwork items).
  • When crafting a masterwork titharforged item, the item's quality improves based on the result of the check to create the masterwork component. For each 5 points you exceed the DC of the masterwork component, choose one benefit from the following list.
  • the item gains +1 hardness
  • the item's value increases by 50gp (This is split up among the crafted items if made in lots, like arrows or bolts.)
  • the masterwork bonus or armor check reduction improves by 1 (This can only be selected once.)
  • When purchasing a masterwork titharforged item "off the shelf," assume the crafter met the DC of of the masterwork component but didn't exceed it. Greater works might be commissioned from master crafters.
