The History of the Lake Province

An uprising of elves and dwarves that was crushed by the Imperial legions. During the fighting, Icelock and The Crag were destroyed.

Old Northam and Waterpoint were slowly abandoned as the fish in Thostyr Lake died. Not long after the last villagers left, the lake became dangerous to livestock and people.

Emboldened by the Empire's lack of organization after the death of its leader, an angry mob laid siege to the manor house where Vizier Tessix lived.

This is where our story begins.

The mob, bolstered by several bold adventurers, took control of Clay Hill Manor and exiled Vizier Tessix from the province.

A series of covert actions led by Viceroy Tyra Valiant culminated in a massive, coordinated attack on Capitol Legion forces and Vizier Morl's holdings in Starkov. Legion remnants and the vizier's apprentices retreated from the capitol city, leaving it entirely under the Viceroy's control.

Spells unleashed in the fighting started fires in two places in the city, killing dozens and displacing hundreds.

A team of relatively unknown adventurers is made a push into the docks district in Starkov, clearing it of monstrous denizens and opening up many homes and shops for refugees. Others followed their example, and today, the area is once again habitable.

With the Emperor and his wizards gone and the imperial resources stretched thin to rebuild the province, opportunistic monsters left their dens and hidden places to feast and hoard. Desperate for any solution, the Empire started issuing bounties for them.
