The mounts were making good headway through the fields as we left the Lorewood to our right. But the fields of intense green grass proved to be more treacherous than expected as the green gave way to a gold grass which contained small bugs or birds (it's really hard to tell in the Feywild) that started to follow us, slowly turning into a massive swarm, this in of itself wasn't dangerous but as the gold gave way to red, the passage of the creatures into this territory made them bigger. Then a while later the red gave way to purple and they turned into owls with butterfly wings. By the evening we realized our mounts could keep going indefinitely so we decided to push on, since the swarm of owls following us was a bit disquieting and no attempts to communicate with them got us any closer to understanding their pursuit. And while most owls left us behind a few did follow us and when we passed the next threshold the owls grew in size and attacked us, accompanied by swarms of stirges coming from the other side. The fight went well until the owls that went to sleep a while ago woke up and also came for us, and even though a combination of my sister's menace and the magic of Luke and Hayley scared them off it still caused a roar and a swarm of hundreds came for us.
We were chased for hours by this cloud of owls until we found a magical illusion that we could hide within. And since we traveled for more than a day, or at least it felt that way the sun was not really telling us that, we had a rest before setting on. Though this time under cover of some magic of Hayley that made us look like fey travelers. The day was tense as the flock of giant owls, seemingly controlled by an entity, searched the area around us, ignoring us as the city of Whitewail came into view. But as we neared, our disguise was pierced and the flock resumed the chase. But we had enough of a lead and they were forced to disperse as we crossed the summer fields into a snow lain field and we were within the domain of Whitewail.
Taking a breather, we had to make our next move. We were clearly running short on time, with almost 6 days having passed of our deadline of 10 and we weren't even at sea yet. But Liliana's time in Whitewail gave us a new path: Vivienne had a personal portal to Nimmerburg and she knew where it was. So we decided on making an attempt at getting to this gate.
