Dear Ileas,
Our trip back to Keralon was interrupted the very next morning. As we woke up and got ready to head westwards we spotted a strange butterfly with silver and golden wings with about half a meter of wingspan. At first I thought perspective was messing with me but Hayley and Luke confirmed, it really was that big. Liliana recognized the type of butterfly as being from the Feywild, having seen it in Vivienne's gardens. And when Luke noticed a divination aura hanging over it and it flying a certain way we decided to see where this butterfly was leading us to.
The butterfly eventually led us to a small opening, a swampy place with some old wooden bridges going from dry outcrop to dry outcrop. But more importantly there was a portal there, with runes similar to the ones we saw in the Bramble, it led to the Immerglade, and more importantly it was fully functional. When we made our way to the first bridge a massive figure emerged, a giant fey who declared that by word of High King Ulther he could not let us pass. Hayley tried to push Lil up front, saying she's an emissary of Vivienne and we would pass on her authority, but my sister's loyalty to Vivienne was so strong that she would not even dare exaggerate her position in Vivienne's entourage. We retreated for a bit to discuss what to do about Davozan, for that was the Fey's name, and agreed we would have to fight. There was some worry for Tommel, who was still under our care, but he sounded resolute, saying he also wanted to learn the secrets of the Immerglade after his affiliation with Sylvesse.
We would learn this might have been a bad call, as the fight started Davozan unleashed his magic on us, dropping fireballs as his swarms of undead pixies flew in to us. In the end most of us fell at least temporarily, but a bolt of lightning that ricochet off Dadroz was to be Tommel's demise. As his swarms were thinning and we were all gathering around Davozan to finish the fight he declared that Ulther would hear about this and then plane shifted away. Leaving us to pass through the portal, as we would take Tommel's body with us to have him revived at the first temple we find.
At the other end of the portal we came to a beach, a sea extending as far as the eyes could see and on the other side a forest loomed. Hayley's raven reported back that a large tower loomed in the forest, so that being our only real landmark we set off towards it. Not before leaving Tommel's body somewhere near the gate, we would need to pass by here anyhow to get out.
But the road to the tower proved to be more difficult than expected, as Hayley's raven told us the tower was not getting any closer as time passed. We also encountered no fey but as there were plenty of animals Gael used his powers to talk to a few birds about it, the birds claimed a dangerous predator lives there but they knew someone that could help and we should follow them.
The birds eventually lead us into a part of the forest covered in webs but the person we needed was in a clearing up ahead, a giant spider named Yarnspinner was there reading a story from her book to a bunch fo animals. The animals scattered as we arrived but she explained she is a Lorekeeper, telling stories from her book that fills up with all stories she knows and since all Fey are gone from this Immerglade island, she would read to the animals.
Liliana showed her our Tarnstones and Yarnspinner was immediately intrigued, she said they were stones carried by the old royal guards of the Queen of Immerglade, and besides communication they had other abilities. She recounted a short verse about a knight who was stranded on our world, and after planting his stone with a seed of a tree a wooden portal to the Immerglade would appear after a night's sleep. We were all very curious to learn more about the Immerglade so after making some hammocks out of web she invited us to sit and she would read us a story.
She told us the story of a young prince, filled with ambition, who asked the hand of the Queen of Immerglade in marriage. But as he was from a small Kingdom he was laughed out of court. So the prince set out on adventure and conquest, making himself and his Kingdom immensely powerful, so now when King Ulther asked the Immerglade Queen's hand in marriage she refused not out of disdain for his political stature but out of fear her Kingdom would be consumed by the enormous Neverhold. This started a war that would consume the Immerglade anyway, forcing the losing Queen to offer her hand in marriage in shame, this is how King Ulther became High King of both Neverhold and Immerglade. But their marriage would not last, as a kngiht from Keralon came and started a romance with the Queen. When the High King found out he annexed the Immerglade, except for a scrap of it where he imprisoned the queen in a tower, cursing the knight into a monster to guard the gate.
At this point, it became clear the story had cradled Luke, Dadroz and Hayley. And Liliana and Gael fell asleep soon after at Yarnspinner's insistence. I misread the situation though, thinking I could get some more answers out of her, about the tower, about the queen, ... but my inability to go to sleep when people tell me to proved to be my undoing as it offended Yarnspinner. Who left us to sleep, saying she was disappointed in me. Can´t say I don´t share her sentiment, and perhaps I can make it up to her one day, maybe recount a story of ours to fill her book.
So before sleeping myself I am left finishing this letter, and hope I did not ruin our chances of getting near that tower.
