Ileas,
If we had hoped for any rest to focus on the ordeal with the Black Knight's curse, that hope would be squashed upon our return to Keralon.
After a night in Latebra Velora, Lady Morenthene opened up a portal for us to bring us to about a day and a half from Keralon. And it didn't take long before we saw a white flag with silver towers on them, the sign of Keralon's guards! And the sound of the horn as we approached did bring a warm feeling to me of being welcomed home. As we met up and introduced ourselves their purpose was made clear, they were looking for us as the King required our immediate presence at the palace, and from the demeanour of the guards it was clear the King ordered it, not asked it. And the guards could not tell us why, even if they wanted to. Worried about what was going on we let them accompany us on the way back and the next day we saw the Silver City.
But a lot was changed, the towers and ramparts were all decorated in flags belonging to Fey nobles, it seems the city was hosting a distinguished delegation of Neverhold. When we arrived at the gates the same horn was sounded, though the warm feeling was far away now. At the gate we handed over our horses and carts, asking that they bring them Wolf's Rest but drop Galiene off at the Cathedral where the clerics can look over her, and with some fresh horses we headed off to the palace.
When we approached the throne room it was Lil who noticed that the air was really tense here as we saw fey guards alongside the usual palace guards and entered. The throne room was full with the usual nobles but also a whole group of fey nobles, and on the thrones the Queen and King were accompanied by a Golem and sat next to them Gallaron, the Fey emissary of King Ulther. In the room we also saw Rachnar, Elsa and Vivienne huddled together looking worried, Vivienne even brought a giant white wolf with her. After apologizing for looking rough due to just getting here the King explained Gallaron and his fey have been here for a week as messengers were sent to get us since Gallaron came to lay an accusation at our feet. At which Gallaron explained this was all related to our encounter with Davozan, the Fey guard at the Immerglade gate that we fought with. He claims the fight was unprovoked and we transgressed by entering the portal, and we now risk a major diplomatic incident if not war between Keralon and Neverhold.
He wasn't really wrong, though he didn't mention the encounter with Ulther's Hobgoblins. And looking around none of us seemed to have a real retort ready, although Hayley provided some pushback, saying we entered Queen Titania's territory and that Davozan attacked us. But Gallaron easily refuted this, saying Queen Titania's territory was King Ulther's and Davozan defended his post, regardless of who attacked whom. But, he said, they were prepared to make amends if we travelled to Ulther's palace to take part in some festivities where we would formally apologize. We were expected around the 30th of this month, so in about two weeks and would need to travel there with the help of Vivienne who would bring us to the edge of King Ulther's domain and a map she would provide. Clearly something more hides behind this, at the very least I expect the festivities to involve some humiliations to us, but that's not worth risking war between Keralon and Neverhold so we accepted.
With that the King seemed at least a bit relieved and we could mingle a bit before going home, so while Hayley informed Rachnar about what we did in Latebra Velora, the rest of us talked to Vivienne and Elsa. She says her orders are to bring us to the edge of the Lorewood's domain inside the Feywild and said we should probably leave as soon as possible.
When Elsa asked how we were doing we suggested to take that conversation to our keep, since the fallout of that is not for the eyes and ears of the court. So back home we explained to Elsa what happened, and she immediately offered her help in investigating, so we asked her to look into the "Challenge of the Final Tournament". Vivienne on the other hand took her leave to one of our guest rooms, saying she'll wait in the area until we're ready to head out. We agreed to at least take tomorrow to run some errands since we weren't here for over two weeks.
So the next day we all set out to do our errands. My sister and I went to the Cathedral to check on Galiene and deliver the lance. Inside we were met by Master Tholan who was taking personal care of Galiene, he was also very grateful when we produced the stolen lance and surprised when we said Galiene helped with its retrieval. We visited Galiene who was still comatose but being taken care of and at least slept in her own bed. I could only thank Tholan and promise we would do what we could to free her of this curse, even if we first had to deal with this whole Neverhold business. At that Tholan also suggested he could look into some information on the Knight Nemeses so whe shared some info:
I told him about the Challenge of the Final Tournament, that knowing what it is could be a major clue, something he would look into. In return he told us some things about the Red and Green Knight, how they stay at Red Hill Manor in the East and Fellburrow in the North respectively, but were less keen on taking challenges like their Black counterpart. But after spending some more time with Galiene we left to find Dorr, since with the money we got from selling the armor of the Black Knight's minions we could affort to put a Town Hall for Wolf's Rest. Its construction hopefully drawing more people to Wolf's Rest. And having work hopefully keeps him from taking less savory work that lands him in trouble.
When we returned we heard Gael went into the Rose's Garden to request a safe place to store his puzzle box, which seeing as we're going into the Neverhold is a good idea. Dadroz went gravehunting for a former holder of his crossbow, and Hayley did some rounds in Wolf's Rest. Learning a woman showed up to request 15 carts and paid quite a lot of money to the people of Wolf's Rest to construct it. She apparently took up residence in Aunt Pattie's abandoned cabin which is a strange choice of lodgings to say the least. So before leaving for Neverhold tomorrow we would visit her, to at least get to know this benefactor to Wolf's Rest better. Though first thing in the morning my sister and I would hold a funeral for Gideon, whose remains we still had with us.
