NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS 2023

Happy New Year!

Introduction to the Article: 10 Pieces of Must-Read Content

Hello everyone, and a very happy new year to you all! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the new year.   I wanted to share with you some articles I've been enjoying lately. These are 10 pieces of must-read content. It's been a great way for me to discover new ideas and perspectives, and I've been finding it really enriching and thought-provoking.   As we start a new year, I encourage you to take some time to invest in your own personal growth and development. Whether that means setting aside time each day to read, or finding other ways to challenge yourself and expand your horizons, it's important to keep learning and growing.   With that in mind, I hope you'll find these articles as enjoyable and informative as I have. Wishing you all a happy and successful year ahead!

I love the use of the quote at the top of the page in this article, it sets the mood and creates a tension. The paragraph below that explains how dangerous they are and gives a foreboding warning. I don't want to meet a Rock Snapper.

Kefkejaco continues the tension by explaining their imposing size and their opportunistic feeding habits. I can imagine walking in the icy mountains, dreading every step, knowing each could be my last!

I want to use this as an inspiration of setting the mood in my articles. Each word matters, the Rock Snapper article shows me the power of words in setting the mood.

I was instantly drawn to this article with its whimsical presentation. The colors work well together, the images compliment the mood and the explanations enhance everything. I want to be a Tea Witch!

I imagine myself in the company of a Tea witch, it's instantly cozy, the room smells of floral and fruity teas. All of your cares melt away in the conversation and company as if you're talking with a longtime friend.

Emily Armstrong welcomes you into her world with open arms. As you come to the end of the article there is a pleasant story detailing a Tea Witch's day. I use this article as an inspiration for using themes and key words to paint a picture of my world in the reader's mind. There are many ways to describe your world, but do they make your reader want to stay?

I sat down this morning and started reading through this article. It has a certain aesthetic that pulled me right in. I felt like I knew the character from the first few lines of reading this article.

Laura Bones article feels like you're reading this characters personal diary, it's delightful and warm. I want to take away an attention to detail from this article. It feels like every piece of it was intentional. I want to be intentional in my articles as well.

A feeling of dread and hopelessness filled me the more I read this article. The people of Illonuit are locked into a sort of trance like ignorance that not even the most hopeful would dare try to break. The quotes and text help to set this mood and keep it.

Mochimanoban sets a theme and reinforces it many times in this article. These people are suffering, but they don't even know they're suffering. There is nothing you can do to save them and they're a blight to themselves and everyone that knows of them. I enjoy the many angles this theme is approached from and I want to think outside the box in my future articles in the same way.

Reader beware, Vespa is here to charm you. This character feels like she belongs in this world. Seducing you with her performances and beguiling you with her allure.

Tillerz makes this character feels real to me and the interactive map helps to place her in the world. I want to use this character as a reminder that creating interesting characters is not only okay, but a great thing to do!

Where do I start? The custom drawings, the incredible hyperlinking with custom symbols? This article has it all! You're instantly drawn into the world of Solaris with this well paced and completely customized article.

nnie draws you into this world by immediately giving you a rundown of the world that you're reading about. Detailed information about the system and what you should care about are all included in this article! The custom content in this is mind blowing. What I take away from this article is that you can fill your article to the brim with interesting and engaging content without overwhelming your reader.

This article is chock full of information! Reading this article I can feel the pain and worry for disposing of the dead. There's a real anxiety when you this can't be done properly. That will not be a problem after reading through this article. I feel like I'm prepared to follow this ritual with all the wonderful information included

MHBiscup really holds your hand on this one. There is a heartfelt energy to this article. I hope to never have to follow these practices as they are likely painful, but if I was ever called into the line of duty I am prepared! In this article I feel like I've learned some real techniques on pulling people into your culture and becoming familiar with your rituals and the preparation that goes into it.

Wow, what an adventure. The Mythral Jinx is both captivating and elusive. The thought of their bodies flying through the air and the devastating death drop while mating paints an incredible picture in my mind.

Leonidas Nerevar certainly has a way with words! I can imagine spending my youth trying to find or catch one of these mystical beings. The thought that they're related to pseudodragons is even more enthralling. I found myself getting more excited with each fascinating tidbit in this article. My takeaway from this is to use my words to weave an incredible story for each species that escalates the further you read.

A very interesting and informative article about the Ice-Caps. These enchanting fungi are edible and partially narcotic. I believe after reading this I know the best way to eat and to enjoy an Ice-Cap.

Mirescosmo breaks the Ice-Cap down in a way that few can. The anatomy of these fungi is varied and you're walked through this information as if he's a mycologist. I felt extremely informed and right at the end I was hit with the reality that moose use these fungi to get high. What a great way to end the article and get a laugh from your reader. What I got from this article is the ability to explain your fauna in and out is invaluable and sometimes hitting people with the quip at the end is just what the doctor ordered.

What a treat. Algae bubbles are the trail mix or chips of our world. The idea that a species has a snack that is so sought after that it would create political tension is an amusing idea.

RiverFang tells a tale of a snack so delicious that it was used as a chip in negotiations and treaties. I feel like it would be pretty incredible to get to try Algae bubbles! From this article I takeaway the power of something so simple that can be the backbone of your culture and how others view you. What a great way to put your people on the map!

This article is packed with lore! This conflict has torn the people living in the Tixan Region apart. Many groups have to flee and live amongst others that are not their kind. This article paints a very real picture of the reality of conflict and the consequences as well.

MissIzette weaves a thick narrative of the people affected by this conflict and the hierarchy of such. What I takeaway from this article is that everyone's story is intertwined and to be able to express these complexities in an article like this is an incredible accomplishment. I would like to be able to weave such intricate and detailed narratives!

My New Year's Resolutions

As I reflect on the articles I've read and the lessons I've learned, I've come up with a few resolutions for the new year.   First, I resolve to create a compelling culture and story for each species in my world. This means taking the time to carefully consider the quippy endings and engaging content that will keep readers interested and coming back for more.   Second, I resolve to create interesting and memorable characters that stand out and make the reader want to stay. I also want to challenge myself to think outside the box and approach themes and ideas from multiple angles.   Finally, I resolve to pay attention to detail and be intentional in my writing. This means using themes, key words, and specific moods and atmospheres to paint a vivid picture of my world in the reader's mind.   I'm excited to take on these challenges and see where they lead me in the new year. Here's to growth, learning, and creating something truly special!

I really enjoyed all the different angles you approached just how hopeless it was in that city. Also the Lamp theme really sent me.

It sounds like you've been able to extract a lot of observations from these excellent articles (and thank you so much for including one of mine). I can be hard to track and know how compelling or engaging a work is, but I think what you're saying about being intentional and using themes, mood and atmosphere is a great way to go about it. Best of luck! I'm excited to see what you'll make.
