"The Cradle of Elven civilization... Don't listen to the Elves of Faeon or Ledo. This is where it all really started!... maybe."

Located in the west of the Elf-Kingdom Lyonne, the Barony of Dryadalis is the largest province in the kigndom. It is bordered to the north by the Kingdom of Rinea, to the west are the Mountains of Cil. to the east is Sylva Lucus and Ardens. To the south is the kingdom of North Cassel and the Duchy of Fairden, specifically the barony of Canillo. Dryadalis is located in the Valley of Dryads, a large, densely populated, densely forested area.

The climate is considered to be continental with dry winters, though it can be quite snowy some years. Depending on the exact location, the amount of snow, and whether it snows at all can vary greatly. This is due to influence from the Sky Trees and the many mountain ranges surrounding the province.

Dryadalis used to be the original extent of the Elf-Kingdom of Lyonne. It was founded on the last year of the Silver Age, shortly after the Silver Age Cataclysm wiped out the Olimians and elves were created. The elves migrated out of The Olimian wastes and eventually made it to this secluded valley, where they rebuilt their civilization. Many thousands of years later and across two ages of men, the elves had endured here. They are mostly unchanging and their technology has yet to reach the original level of greatness they once had.

The capital city of Lyonne is located on the sides of a heavily forested canyon. Most of the city's infrastructure is in the cliffsides. The poorer elves (which are still far more well off than any poor human is) live on the bottom of the valley near the river. The trees combined with the many palaces at the higher levels makes it difficult to see the sun. The richest elves live on the ridges surrounding the city, in great palaces that reach into the sky.

The largest building in the city is not the Royal Palace, though that building is still quite an impressive sight. There is a great building on the highest ridge. It is the Airship teminal. Around three dozen large airships are in this building, including Queen Eryka's personal airship that she takes across Vreathe on state visits. The rest have unknown purposes, but most think they are mlitary vessels.

Sky Trees

One of the things Dryadalis is known for are its many different varieties of tree. There are many varieties of oak, maple, pine and fir tree depending on the location in the Valley of Dryads. Closer to the rivers are wide open forests and in the mountains are hardier trees.

Then there are varieties of trees here not yet described in writing, some that have been around since the dawn of time. Some of these trees stretch into the sky, reaching over a thousand meters in height. These are the Sky Trees, created by the elder goddess Yanneth long before the first humans walked the world, they have been continuously growing for a countless number of years and never stopped growing regardless of what happened to the climate and world around them. These trees are so large they influence the climate around them, keeping the land moist when it should be semiarid, but also preventing it from snowing in the winters.

The Elves have various uses for these trees. They are like mountains that the elves mine for various resources. More primitive elves, at least those that don't care for the slow but forever persistent march of technological advancement, have taken residence in some of these trees, living inside the hollow interior, or building small villages in the canopy, where the ecosystem is nothing like on the ground. They are quite isolated from the rest of the elves.

Nice, clean, classic world building - and not too long! :-) I'd check the quit from Isabel - I think you have a typo in there?
