"The docks of Tivol were where I threw that bottle into the ocean containing that letter when I was eight. I never would have thought someone from the Sea Kingdoms of Cassel would respond!"

The Barony of Terminus is located in eastern Lyonne. It is bordered to the south by the Red Towers and the Barony of Orthez. To the north is Boreotis and to the west is Ardens. To the east is the Voltaic Sea and the barony of Palma.

Terminus is for the most part a wide open grassland, with the exception being the volcanic Red Towers to the south and a heavily forested western area. This makes it an excellent location for growing several grains, mostly Rye, as well as for raising cattle and sheep. Other Resources include several varieties of hardwood from the forests and obsidian glass from the volcanoes.

Due to the size of the coastal area, Terminus is vulnerable to sea invasions, so there are several dozen watchtowers and forts built along the coast. The area has been invaded many times in the past, but with one exception (The Sea-Elven Wars of the 900's I.A., roughly two thousand years ago), no invasion has ever been successful beyond a few kilometers of the coast.

In the capital of Tivol, a large castle is built on top of a hill overlooking the town and sea. Tivol is also the only port in Lyonne, where most products go to be shipped to the rest of Cassel as well as the kingdoms of Yurria, Ordland, and Faeon. Recently the Sea Elves of Atlatta have made contact with Lyonne and established a trade alliance, which means nearly all commerce between the two kingdoms goes through the town of Tivol as well.

Château Sylvie

Despite its name, there are no forests for miles around Château Sylvie. The current version of the castle was built in the year 43k of the Bronze Age (so about 5,000 years ago). It was built on a 'hill' to overlook the town of Tivol and protect Lyonne from invasions from the sea. The hill is actually the ruins of at least four other castles that were built, destroyed, covered over and rebuilt throughout the Bronze Age.

The lord of the castle, Alfred Duen, has been in charge of the area for several thousand years and long after humans invented cannons, he refused to have any installed, preferring instead to use ballista and enchanted heavy bolts. Even in current times, the castle is still not armed with any cannons. It also has very little defense against such a weapon.

The Castle used to be the target of numerous attacks through the thousands of years it has stood. Since Lyonne is (usually) allied with the Kingdom of Cassel, it has been attacked considerably less and the area has prospered.

Aurora Shepherds

There is one notable variety of animal in these lands, that of the Aurora Shepherd. The elves bred them from Galleskan Shepherds and a pack of wolves from the Country of Faeon. These wolves were infected with the Corruption of Oliark, the Arcane, an ancient Dragon Lord. The result is a hardy dog with midnight colored fur that is resistant to magic.

The tips of this breed's fur has a special effect when in the presence of mana, in that it starts to glow vividly in different colors, usually cyan, blue, and violet. Their fur actively absorbs mana, making them strong against magic creatures and spellcasters. They are prized pets in human and elven kingdoms, often going for tens of thousands of Beryls. The humans just like the pretty colors and don't use the dog for their intended purpose.
