Geography
A southern region of the valley home to many famously large panthers. Catkills spans from the low mounds at the base of the Bad Step, makes its way through the Mais, into undefined parts of the Mists and finishing at the drier southern areas on the Salt Side. Many big cats are captured here and either sold or kept as breeding stock for the wildblood market.
As one can imagine, with Sangsalgu's heavy identification with the large feline; their are many a noble who sponsor the care of one. Either in the zoo, or in their own homes.

Floods
The tlaloque rivers represent a motley group of rain, water, and mountain gods. It is a system of interweaving ice-melt rivers originating from the Bad Step to the Mixed Lake and that flood yearly even in times without the moon. During it, the waters rise to three times its normal depth to flood around trees and create islands. Before the floods arrive, the banks are farmed heavily. When the floods recede, the soil emerges revitalized for another 50-year yield.Fauna & Flora
Gourd Tree: Also called the calabash tree, it sprouts a vine grown for its fruit, which can be either harvested young to be consumed as a vegetable, or harvested mature to be dried and used as a utensil. When it is fresh, the fruit has a light green smooth skin and white flesh.
The tree's valuable calabash fruits have a variety of shapes: they can be huge and rounded, small and bottle shaped, or slim and serpentine, and they can grow to be over 3 feet long. Rounder varieties are typically called calabash gourds. The gourd was one of the world's first cultivated plants grown not primarily for food, but for use as utensils, containers, and musical instruments.
Agouti: Called a strain along the shores, vole by the Tinged and gnawer in the Corn Court; no matter the name, they all smell the same. Agouti is a widespread weasel-like rat that scurries about in low places and tight fittings. Preferring forested areas, they have adapted to deforestation by burrowing and taking shelter in rocky outcrops.
Jaguars: The largest cat species found in the valley and largely extirpated from the valley, except for Catkills.
Panthers: A panther is just a jaguar coloured black, as many comedic legends will tell you. About as common, as well; it ranges in much same areas but a panther's capture is pricier.
