Faron (FAIR-in)

"The rolling hills give way to dense, confusing forests that twist and maze along the coastline of eastern Tempora... yet Faronians love it all the same. If one takes their time, they can uncover wonders of the world untold to any Temporan - even the Gods themselves."   -An Elven Guide to Temporan Tourism, circa 1344

Geography

Faron Province is geographically the smallest of the four Temporan provinces, but is by far the wealthiest (mainly in thanks to the material wealth of Zonaius and the magical wealth of Twinvale). It consists of rolling grassy hills to the south, dotted with small affluent villages that culminate in Zonaius at the southeastern tip, and thick forests to the north that all who are not guided by Fey-touched individuals will find themselves lost in. The southern edge of Faron is bordered by the Marrekoth River, and the northern/southern aspects of the province are divided by the Lakes of Being.

Climate

Southern Faron's climate very much mirrors that of Necluda, though it often dips a bit cooler in the winters. Sunny, somewhat humid, and with a lovely breeze that keeps the body comfortable.    Northern Faron, however, tends to have a harsher climate in winters. The snow of Polaris' domain is often described as some of the most beautiful mortals have ever seen, but it's deadly if you wind up in northern Faron unprepared. Otherwise, northern Faron has a mild climate for the other three seasons of the year.

Fauna & Flora

Faron generally has the highest population of Fey and fey-adjacent flora and fauna of any ecological system in Uthilith. This is due to the presence of Twinvale and the only stable/active portal to the Feywild (specifically the Summer Court) in Uthilith, where travellers can generally pass freely.

History

The first settlement of Faron Province was that of Twinvale, as it was when Titania had visited the new Material Plane for the first time. It was at that spot where she met Astrid, and the two came to a mutual agreement to allow any Fey refuge as the Feywild underwent calamitous transition.   It was in Twinvale where the first modern Elves were born in the early 100s, shifting from Eladrin into one of the four core ethnicities that was created directly from Uthilithian magic: High, Sun, Moon, and Wood. These elves scattered across the continent, not to return until the Frostburn Dynasty established continental unification.   In the mid-200's, several Lightfoot Halflings of the long-extinct Zonai Tribe established the town of Zonaius, a place that would one day grow into a metropolis. They thrived and peacefully coexisted with the land for nearly 850 years, before Frostburn Emperor Hadrian Frostburn pillaged and eviscerated their land, instilling his own high elven government over the area. Costs of living quickly shot up, and the Zonai were scattered amongst the southern Necluda Province, and some were even sent to the Occidental Kingdom of Chaelwyth. Most halflings who hail from the Necluda Province are of distant Zonai descent.   Following the abdication of Orion Ermendrud, the final dynastic Empress, the new Provincial Democratic Conclave of Tempora turned its gaze upon Faron and Necluda to provide reparations to their Zonai populations. A separatist movement of high elves has since appeared to try and decry these efforts, but they appear to be ineffective thus far.
