Ikana

"Ikana's cracked earth carries a sense of desolation like no other, yet many Temporans call it home. Breathe in the nourishing heat of the desert sun, breathe in the scent of the blazing desert, the warm depths of the Whispered Lake... the province is where vitality is balanced with death."   -Scheherazade Dunyazera, CY 1577

Geography

Ikana Province is an incredibly geographically diverse area of Tempora, holding within landforms that cannot be found anywhere else in Uthilith. Its main draw is the Ikana Badlands, characterized by steep slopes and beautiful eroded sediment. The centermost point of the region is the Great Plateau, a massive plain where the town of Folweld sleeps.     This province is bound by the Dreadnaught Swamp to the east and the Plyrior River to the northwest. The hills that blend Ikana and the Hebra region are effectively unbound territory, and these hills have been contested by various indigenous Hill Dwarves who don't identify with the Temporan identity for centuries.   A significant portion of Ikana is encompassed by the Bushfire Desert, the most arid area in all of Uthilith. Although it's bound by coasts, the combination of Ley Lines that intersect the area have forced it to have an extremely harsh climate.   The southernmost Uthilithian city - Irieham - is built into cliffs of white sandstone.

Climate

The vast majority of Ikana is extremely arid, classified as a desert climate. Thus, there is a severe excess of evaporation over precipitation.   However, whether the climate is classified as a hot or cold desert climate depends solely on the altitude. The Bushfire Desert is primarily hot - averaging well over 100°F at Notus' peak. In contrast, areas like the Ikana Badlands and Great Plateau generally fall under cold climates, generally not going past 85°F in midsummer. Despite their rather subdued nature in the summer, these colder regions can get extremely harsh in winters.
