Dragon Mountains

Here there be...well you know...

Forming the southern border of the Kingdom of Aldir is a long and dark range of mountains known as the Dragon Mountains.

Geography

The area is a mountain range extending perhaps 400 miles in total length from east to west, ending at the Sedmana Ocean in the east and tapering down to rolling hills and then marshland in the west. Forming at the northern base of the mountains and extending approximately fifty miles north are the rolling hills of the Wyvern Foothills that eventually roll into the Summervine River Valley.

Fauna & Flora

The mountains themselves are far to rocky and steep to support much plant life, however when it comes to fauna the area is quite literally packed with a variety of creatures ranging from rabbits and mountain goats all the way to almost any species of dragon you can think of. It is an altogether too common a sight for denizens of the Wyvern Foothills to see dragons flying overhead during their day to day routines, and those traveling close to or through the mountains will hear reports of the dragons fighting tooth and claw over contested territory.

Natural Resources

On account of the heavy populations of dragons inhabiting the area very few prospecting missions of the mountains have been attempted, and whether the mountains hold much by way of material resources is largely unknown. The extensive wildlife cross-section of the region however has provided ample support for the trapping and fur trade in the area, and easily 3 out of 5 settlements in the Wyvern Foothills use that industry to stay afloat. Additionally the Foothills are spotted with large stretches of forest, primarily pines, that supply the surrounding settlements with sufficient lumber for their needs.
