Arsenal District

The northeastern district of the city and home to Amaranthine's two principle defensive structures, the Bastion and the Old Temple.

Government

Governing the arsenal district in the position of judge is perhaps the most controversial of all of the Judges, a half orc male name Korugark. While those who know him well consistently state that he is a gentle soul who earnestly wants to help make Amaranthine a better place, the stigma of his heritage has been a constant thorn in his side since his appointment. King Leob appointed the former Cleric and missionary because he was impressed by Koru’s gentle soul and honest goodness about him, however a vile rumor was spread throughout the city that he is a plant by the Trios; and Koru has had a hard time escaping that rumor. Several attempts have been made on his life in the last five years he’s held his position, but regardless of what the press reports he has executed his duties with fairness, mercy and diligence.

Defences

The district is easily the heaviest defended district in the city, with the Bastion sitting right on the riverbanks and the Old Temple only about five blocks further upland. In addition to that, some of the older buildings of the city still remain and the architectural design of the district is far more feudal than Gothic with many of the more well established Inns, hospitals and churches all doubling as defensive strongholds should the city be overrun.

History

When the city was first growing, the Holy Order of the Knights of Cidon built their fortress in the midsts of a marshy swampland just north of the already constructed Bastion, which had been serving as the city’s main defense along the river's eastern approach for nearly a century. The Temple Fortress, which nowadays is simply referred to as the Old Temple, surpassed the Bastion in splendor, style and function and the latter eventually fell into disuse ultimately being converted into a prison/armory for the Knights of Cidon. When the Knight’s of Cidon were eventually disbanded and the Knights Bloom set up in its place the castle was expanded upon and the city populace began to form up around it.

Architecture

Today the Arsenal District is the place to reside for the local aristocracy. Where the Royal District is nothing but narrow streets choked with pedestrians and lavish apartments, the Arsenal District is lined with broad boulevards with magically sustained floral arrangements bisecting them. Shopping in the district is just as fine as well as the dining.
