Planetcraft

A starship formed by taking a planet (often fortress worlds or useless worlds) and building huge engines and weapon systems on it. Due to the immense scale of planetcraft compared to regular starships, planetcraft battles take significantly longer, often several weeks or even months. Regular starship battles can (and usually do) start and end in the midst of planetcraft battles (as escorting ships of both worlds engage each other). Additionally, they are armoued and shielded very heavily to the point where regular planet busting weapons usually will not destroy one. As such, they tend to use their own primary and secondary weapons against other planetcraft.   Almost any major faction can build planetcraft. Doctrine and layouts change depending on faction. All planetcraft have copious amounts of surface to orbit weapons.   Faction Doctrines:

    Power Generation

HF: Planck-Dismantlement Beams, fired at waste matter produced by the population on the planet. These are always deep under the surface on Planetcraft, but not necessarily on regular planets. Planetcraft are also powered by Antimatter Annihilation Cores as well as Zero-Point Energy

    Weapons & Armament

HF: A primary, spinal, High Energy Turret Hardpoint as well as 4 smaller, secondary ones mounted in turrets. Of course, Planetcraft are also covered in surface-to-orbit weapons such as missiles.

    Communication Tools & Systems

    Sensors

HF: Tachyon Radars. These are placed on the surface and present a weakspot, but Planetcraft can also receive comms from spotters even when the radars are down. The radars still have very thick armour under them protecting the planet itself.
