Exposition

Sam Brixton walks through Tethys Town which seems deserted, until he finds Barker's Tavern and Hieronymous Barker inside. Barker is closing up for the day, but Sam enters and tells Barker his story, whether Barker wants to hear or not.

Conflict

After his Age of Consent Ritual, the orphan boy Sam Brixton returns to the The Slice of Aphrodite for more. One trick is Yarrow Helper, who looks strangely familiar and has a bodyguard, Brett Hogan IV. Yarrow practically falls in love with Sam, but Sam is preoccupied with the notion of moving to Dionysos. Yarrow, and several of Sam’s friends tries to explain why he won’t be able to. Sam tries to get aboard a ship of the Fleet, to stowaway, but is stopped by a marine who is guarding the airlock. One day he meets one of the few remaining employees of the Coalition Postal Service and he has the idea to take a job as an interstellar mailman, and at the first opportunity elope to Dionysos. He applies for the job, but makes the mistake of telling the boss his plan. He gets the job, because they need a new mailman, but take precautions to keep him from stealing one of their ships and eloping to Dionysos.

Rising Action

The boss at the Postal Service doesn’t trust Sam not to steal the Postal Service Cruiser #4 and run off to Dionysos with it. Instead of giving Sam the Pilot Training Injection he hires Megan Simpson to pilot the ship for Sam.

On Prometheus southern hemisphere they’re celebrating the Winter Solstice Festival At Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah, just outside Myrtle’s Beach, there’s a concert by the famous crooner Worley Harper. Sam’s first delivery is to the backstage area at the concert, and the addressee is Yarrow Helper. Yarrow is a relative of Worley and always follow on his tours. Yarrow tries to persuade Sam to stay for sex, but Sam truthfully tells Yarrow that Megan wouldn’t allow that.

On the Egyptian world Osiris, Sam delivers a bulky and heavy package to what turns out to be a safe house for the Secret Police of Set. The Agents of Set are holding a Coalition Operative prisoner there, and torturing him, and they think Sam is an operative too, sent to rescue the prisoner. They attempt to kill Sam, but a masked female operative turns up and fights the Agents of Set, so that Sam can free the captured operative, who opens the package which contains a Portable Folder, through which he and Sam return to the ship.

The next morning, Megan picks up Sam outside the Orphanage, and fly the ship to the Tantalusian System and the moon Pelops, where it’s evening. Sam delivers a package to a luxurious home in a gated community, and it turns out that Yarrow lives there with Worley Harper, and he sent the package to himself so Sam would deliver it. Megan calls Sam and tells him something has come up and that he should stay indoors. Yarrow uses the extra time together to have sex with Sam in the private indoor swimming pool, while Worley sits at the grand piano playing music for them. He keeps the piano in the pool room because of the acoustics there. Meanwhile, in the gated community, around the house, a group of agents from the Secret Police of Set is attacking, as they’re still convinced that Sam is an operative. They’re decimated by the mysterious female operative who came to Sam’s rescue the day before.
