Megan Simpson
Megan grew up at Hestia Orphanage. She grew frustrated that the entire society she lived in was so centered around the males, who almost always got all the attention, and the frustration got worse when she entered puberty. Fortunately the orphanage was run by a woman who saw Megan, and always made sure to give her as much attention as she gave the boys at the orphanage, always believed in her and encouraged her.
Megan enrolled in the Coalition Space Fleet Academy in 2949, the year she turned sixteen and aced the Pilot Training Program. Unfortunately the Space Fleet had the same problems as the rest of Coalition society when it came to equality between the sexes, and to matters worse there was some ugly sexism coming from some senior officers. This was the chief reason she left the Fleet and became a civilian pilot instead.
She couldn’t stand Paolo Garcia while they both lived at the orphanage, as he was still a bully then. He never bullied her, but he did bully Calvin Keller, one of few boys who knew she existed and remembered her name. She graduated the Academy before Paolo enrolled, but as part of his training he was stationed on TCSV Onomatopoeia, the same ship as her, and then he did see her and remember her name. As they were both into martial arts they often sparred with each other, both physically in the dojo and verbally everywhere else.
