Space Fleet Youth Activation Program

SFYAP allow kids who are under the minimum age for the Academy to receive training that is more or less relevant to officers of the Fleet.

They arrange field trips and jamboree-like events for the kids and teach them to tie sailors knots, though many people have pointed out that officers rarely have any reason to tie knots on a space ship.

They are not allowed to pressure anyone into enrolling in the Space Fleet Academy, but everyone knows that the SFYAP is the main recruitment tool for the Academy. The few who chose not to enroll in the Academy, but stay in SFYAP find themselves to be a handful, lonely kids above the age of sixteen, who have less and less in common with the younger kids. They usually drop out voluntarily before the age of 18, when they would age out.
