Volksmann Tower
This skyscraper is the Corporate Headquarters for Volksmann Enterprises and the place where Jozef Volksmann spends most of his time, when he isn't in the headquarters for the Minoan Gentlemen’s Society.
Volksmann Tower was built by the Grandfather of Jozef Volksmann and stood out quite well at the southern edge of Okeanos Circle with its two hundred stories, simply because the tallest buildings tend to be close to the hubs of the circles, so the surrounding buildings were at most fifty stories. But then came Jeremiah Clear and thought he could just get all the attention by building a 300 story building, not realizing that a man like Jozef had connections that allowed him to cut through red tape and get building permits before Jeremiah could blink, and thus make his building taller. Only, Jozef knew he only needed to make his building one story taller than the Clear building, as Jeremiah would keep making his a lot taller, until he bankrupted himself and his company, while Jozef had almost unlimited funds, by comparison.
The building stands on a low hill, or mound, which was constructed to allow for the trench that goes all the way around the tower, like a moat. There’s no water in the trench, that’s why the artificial hill was built, so that the trench wouldn’t be below the water level of the ocean, though the building is less than fifty meters from the catamite’s section of Poseidon Beach, east of Okeanos Pier. The trench is five meters deep and a little over six meters wide. Bridges lead across the trench, to the lobby of the tower, while steps and tunnels leads to the bottom of the trench which gives access to the two lower levels, that would otherwise be basement levels. There are bars and strip clubs down there, for people looking to do business with Volksmann Enterprises and its subsidiaries. Regular catamites are warned against going there to look for tricks, however. Jozef Volksmann has his own catamites living and working there, but they never go to the beach or to The Slice of Aphrodite. There have been accusations that Jozef Volksmann violates the Coalition laws that prohibit slavery, and cloning without the consent of the original, but no indictments have been made and the attorneys who started the investigations vanished with no trace.
