Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah
Located in the southern hemisphere on Prometheus, the capital world of the Coalition, about as far from the capital city, Heracles, as you can get.
The lake is a desert canyon or basin, that is completely dried out.
Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah was named so by the explorer Hercules Thompson, as he prepared to go for a bath. An inhabitant from the nearby town, possibly a lover, ran towards Hercules Thompson and yelled at him while waving his arms above his head. Hercules stopped to write what he thought he heard – Nuwattah-Nuwattah on a wood sign, preceded by the word "Lake." He then proceeded to dive from the cliff's edge and landed on the rocks below.
As Hercules lay badly wounded on the rocks below he began to realize his mistake. He died a few minutes later, but not before one of the indigenous jellyfish-like creatures, Cerebral Repositories, floated by and stung him. By doing so the jellyfish absorbed Hercules' memories into their species hive mind and gets "downloaded" to anyone who gets stung by them.
Geography
Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah is located on a minor continent in the southern hemisphere of the planet Prometheus. It's desert terrain, with very sparse vegetation.
The lake is more of a canyon, about ten kilometers from side to side. Though canyon may not be the best word for it. One hundred meter high cliffs surround the lake, so in some sense, it is a lake, except for the fact that there's never any water in it.
In the northeast part of Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah there's a group of "Islands," or rather tall, narrow mesas. There's about two dozen of them, and they vary in size between five to ten meters in diameter and are roughly twenty meters apart.
It's in the area of the "Islands" that the Cerebral Repositories live, and spend most of their time, though they sometimes go to other parts of the lake.
There are many caves and tunnels in the area of the "Islands," some of which are natural, and others that are made by sentient life forms.
There can often be heat distortion in the lake that leads to a mirage effect, to the point where it looks like Lake Nuwattah-Nuwattah is a lake, with water in it. It's a dangerous, but beautiful illusion.
