Boulder Island

Boulder Island is about two kilometers south of Poseidon Beach in Aeolus City.

The equator of Sisyphus Prime runs between the south shore of the mainland and Boulder Island, which technically means that the seasons are reversed on the island, it’s winter on the island when it’s summer in the rest of the city, and vice versa. Though you can’t actually tell the difference that close to the equator. The island is part of the city. Every summer solstice, in the city, thousands of boys in their upper teens take the Air Tram out to Boulder Island to party and celebrate the Winter Solstice Festival there. Considerably more people gather on Poseidon Beach and watch the big holographic projection of the music acts that take place in the plaza outside the Minoan Museum, on the island.

The island is roughly elliptical, two kilometers west to east and one kilometer north to south. One half, the west side, is the city part, with a semicirclular plaza at the center of the island and streets that radiate outward to the shore of the island. A six meters high wall cuts across the island north to east with one opening in the wall, and that is the entrance into the Minoan Museum garden, through which you both get into the museum and the labyrinth that takes up the east half of Boulder Island.
