Hermes Circle

One of the two easternmost circular parts of Aeolus City. If you’re looking for museums and educational institutions in Aeolus, Hermes Circle is where you go.

Loosely based on a part of the story of Odysseus, the street lights in Hermes Circle look like giant flowers, specifically Snowdrops. According to the myth, the god Hermes gave Odysseus a flower to protect him. The flower is called Moly in the myth, and many have speculated over what real world plant it might be. Some believe that the goddess Circe didn’t literally turn Odysseus’s crew into pigs, but poisoned them with something containing an anticholinergic, causing hallucinations. The flower snowdrop in turn contains galantamine, an anti-cholinesterase. The architect who designed the lampposts subscribed to the Snowdrop theory, and thus created the lampposts to look like that flower.
