SEABRIDGE COMICS PRESENTS:
The Vandals
Police on My Back
Disruptr was visiting
Big Sis at work, when
Marge Barrier showed up with a busted up
Tryptych rig, four bionic limbs with a neural net processor. Marge needed the rig fixed before they could sell it, and asked Joni to take it over to
Grindstone on Dexter and 252nd. Joni and Wendy hopped into the Barrier family's grease car and headed out. They ran into
Frank Sheridan who thanked Joni again for destroying the
Ket-D stash at
Shimizu St Transfer Station, and offered help if she ever needed to get rid of or acquire any contraband. Wendy was a little star struck meeting the owner of Grindstone,
Martin Scragland, a man with a reputation as a master engineer and technician. She instantly revealed their identities as the
Vandals, which peaked Scragland's interest in her, and he offered to have her back in the shop to assist him.
Kinetic and
Yeti Boy were headed into
Kwanchai Q. Degrassi Secondary School when they discovered a
Securicorps blockade at the school gates. Yeti Boy refused to go through the checkpoint, which was heavily guarded by
Taskmasters, unless someone could tell him what was going on. The Taskmasters explained they were investigating domestic terrorism and corporate espionage. However, when Colt was targeting for questioning he made a break for it, and was caught in a barrage of non lethal projectiles, forcing him to surrender. Kinetic was also taken in for questioning.
Colt was released and charges against him dropped only after
Dutch called in some serious favors. He wasn't pleased, and made it clear that he wouldn't be able to bail out Colt like that again, even if he wanted to. Kinetic was interrogated by Adjucator
Camilla Marko, and her partner,
J.D. Barrett. Marko was running down leads from warehouse bust, where
Securicorps found a nest of
Kill Icons hackers. Rani's ID was on a short list of students on the confiscated hard drive. Marko questioned her about the
HEADspace sensation,
Tragic Alice, and the virtual drug called
Neur0chrome, long thought to be an urban myth. The Adjucators claimed there was already a death by neur0chrome in
The Canyons, and someone at KQD had links to the supplier.
With Dutch's help,
Vendetta tracked down a member of the
Steel Panthers who could be persuaded to sponsor her in the underground bike race. Vendetta found a mark named
Jerry Park, too old too ride but still connected, and impressed him with her skills. Park agreed to vouch for her to
Lockjaw, and promised to get her in the race. On her way out of
Werner and 17th she followed some mysterious plant growth to a rooftop party hosted by
The Sprouts, a small gang based in
The Lowlands. Vendetta was introduced to their leader,
Althea Green, and the two hit it off immediately. It was the first time in years that Charity felt she could relax, and Althea invited her to come hang with the Sprouts again.
That night,
Gail Jordan-Gordon contacted the Vandals about some footage of Dutch fighting the
Nightstalkers that had been acquired by the
The Edge City Intelligencer. GJG was concerned that vids of Dutch in a street fight would damage his reputation, as he was becoming a pillar of the community, and someone the youth of the Lowlands could look up to. She told the Vandals that she couldn't kill the story, but it could be buried if they had something good to give her instead.
Colt and Wendy both thought that Charity should give up the identities of the Nightstalkers, but Charity refused. She tried to convince them that the Nightstalkers were worth saving, they were still her friends but had been led astray. Neither Wendy or Colt seemed convinced, but they agreed to find something else for GJG. Rani agreed to hang in Jodi's game den at
The Clinic in order to get some alone time and talk about Colt's dad,
Brett Buchanan.
Returning to her small apartment in the Lowlands,
Disruptr was surprised to her mother,
Scarlet Fox, waiting there for her.
