Darkling Giant Species in The Realm of Beardsgaard | World Anvil

Darkling Giant

Found all across the north, Darkling Giants exist on the edges. They are most active at dawn and dusk, sometimes at night, finding their rest during the day. They sometimes gather in settlements, but often as not live solitary lives in the forests, live forests in Vanaheim, frozen forest in Jotunheim, and dead forest in Svartalfheim.   They are the (often vengeful) protectors of the trees, tricksters of travelers (often for the greater good), and generally spooky, if well meaning.

Basic Information

Growth Rate & Stages

Wood Giant age stages take after whichever culture they are raised in, but all things being equal, they lean toward their Giant side in this regard. They reach full size around 15 years of age, but are still considered in their youth until the age of 100, at 250 they are usually done with their procreation years, and are considered an elder at 500 years old, reaching an average of 1000 years of age.
Legacy Beings take on traits of each of their parent species. A single Night Elf far back in a long line of Giants will make for a present day Darkling Giant with mostly Giant characteristics.   Choose which of your parent species you take after more, then take the Stats and Prime Traits of that parent species, and the Legacy Trait of the other parent species.
