The Scouts Guild of Krakonia - SGK
Located in the Expanse District of Krakonia City along the main road leading into the city proper, The Scouts Guild of Krakonia, SGK for short, is one of the many Guilds of Krakonia that were created after The Kingdom of Krakonia was founded. It emphasizes exploration and intel-gathering, rewarding citizens, scouts, and adventurers alike for bringing back information about the mostly-unknown expanse of Requerm . The SGK is officially a guild dedicated to gathering information, but unofficially, this is mostly understood to be a front for the kingdom's spy network, since the SGK is also responsible for running the Krakonia International Institution of Intelligence(KIII) and the Krakonia National Institution of Intelligence(KNII) , where such "intel-gathering" promoted by the guild equates mostly to telling the authorities about crimes that have been, or will be, committed. Since many of these guild responsibilities are also generally covered by The Kraken's Reach , some have wondered what the true purpose of the guild is. While many will argue that the SGK is separate from the Kraken's Reach since it also helps ordinary citizens and connects more seamlessly to other guilds, particularly the AGK and HGK, but others are not convinced. Surely it can't just be to maintain The Lucky Hound Casino , can it? It doesn't help that suspicious rumors about the leader of the SGK, Kah'Rael Warenza , have been circulating throughout the kingdom since The Unification Wars .
Regardless of the debate, one thing that is known for certain is that the SGK is the place to be for anyone interested in exploring Requerm, particularly the uncharted territory that makes up a significant portion of the planet. While ancient maps from The First Civilization have given some indication to the SGK for how the planet is shaped, for the most part, much is certain to have changed since those maps were created. As such, the SGK has openly begun purchasing well-documented adventure logs for the explicit purpose of recording as much information about Requerm as possible, and has created quite possibly the strongest connection between any two guilds in the kingdom as a result, partnering with The Adventurers Guild of Krakonia(AGK) to directly hand out these bonuses to any licensed adventurer returning to the kingdom with new information that the SGK deems useful. The SGK also employs experienced mappers to travel with adventurers specifically to confirm the accuracy of ancient maps, and to add any unknown points of interest in the process. This alone differentiates the SGK enough from the scouts in the Kraken's Reach, since those scouts are more focused on military reconnaissance rather than general exploration. It is also common for members of the SGK to travel alongside members of The Diplomats Guild of Krakonia(DGK) on the off-chance that they make first contact with a new civilization and/or settlement, with both guilds' members being escorted by adventurers from the AGK.
On top of exploration, the SGK values the gathering of any other information that the kingdom may find valuable, and, as such, they control both the KIII and the KNII. On the surface, these institutions are meant to handle data collection, such as population growth, trade routes, locations where citizens first appear due to The Dawn , etc. However, it is commonly known that these two institutions are just there to spy anything inside or outside Krakonian borders for the purposes of security. Most citizens have accepted this, knowing that the heroes of The Unification Wars, that rallied everyone under a banner of unity, that allows for a great level of freedom for all citizens, would probably not be using these spies for nefarious purposes. Probably.
Notably, for some reason, the SGK also runs a rather lucrative casino known as The Lucky Hound. Officially, the SGK uses the earnings to pay for its scout outreach, although many assume that the casino is a front for something else. There are indeed harder ways to gather information than to corral a bunch of rowdy gambling drunks into a single location and keep them there long enough to loosen their tongues.
Below is a list of individuals associated with the SGK:
Kah'Rael Warenza - Leader/Founder of the SGK
Cola Kushola - Leader of the KNII
Haldbhar Denkyrdhemsyn - Leader of the KIII
Valerie Faustina - Supervisor and main hostess of the Lucky Hound
