Catastropium

The Amethyst of God

In its natural cluster form, this crystalline mineral has a sharpy edge and slightly glow of purple. In other word, it look like a glowing amethyst, but that is the end of simillairy of what the real world has taught us.

Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

According to translation of mysterious documents, the crystal have interesting characteristics. There are 3 most adaptive properties use in our production:

  • Plant-based behavier: the ability to absorb water and grow itself.
  • Violence reaction: the cluster will explode if it is rapidly shattered.
  • Natural Battery: The flame can make the shad brighter, which dim itself overtime.

As our research further, it also has minor properties related to the major as we previously mentioned:

  • The deeper the water, the less it can grow.
  • The exploded material can cause the other to explode as well.
  • The brighter it is, the more aggressive reaction upon shattered.

History & Usage

History

This artifact doesn't has any power the myth has said, but it still seem weirder than I expected.
— Valonian scholar in R.R.A., 20 BVE

The crystal, or what we was known it as The Power Stone, is a part of the Luumism's myth. According to myth, it was the weapon of god that give him a power of destruction in which ironically, he used to unite the people. The name Catastropium came afterward after the Valonian, who successfully aquired the stone, caused an accident while trying to weaponize it, whch killed so many specialists and damaging our institute.

It almost kill me too, as if we unleashed the wrath of god.

Cultural Significance and Usage

The Valonian's signature lighthouse in the city of Valone use Catastropium as a source of guiding light. It is called The Eternal Star, a steel-trimed glass container full of compressed Catastropium powders. Due to its light consistancy, the star replaced old fire pit on top of the tower, to celebrate the triumph over the Empire of Kritus in our declaration of independence in 1 VE. Since then, it becomes the hope of people in the heart of Valone.

Industrial Use

Manufacturing & Products

With strange properties, it is possible to farm the mineral. All we need to do is fully submerge in the water, and keep inspecting the size before carefully sculpt it out. However, there are recipe to manipulate the crystal further.

For example, most of the crystal we used in military as well as in some civillian activities, are sterilized. In other words, they figured out how to stop the growing progress, preventing anyone else to replant the crystal....

...except the empire, of course!

Hazards

The most common yet rare compared those who affected, is Purple Smoke - caused by inhaling the fume of combusted crystal, which is only found in Crystal Musket after each firing by Gunner Legions. Theoretically, the pure Catastropium can grow everywhere with enough liquid in it - even in your stomach! Although there is no lethal case has been found yet, but for your safety, don't try it.

Environmental Impact

If it sink into a large body of water, it could grow itself uncontrollably - unless it is limited by its density.

Distribution

Storage

We found out that the safest way to store them is in the form of powder, either rough or fine, on any non-leaked storage. The wooden crates and barrels seem to be the perfered choices. Unfortunately, the exact locations of these barrals are classified.

Law & Regulation

No civilian allowed to own this even a fragment of it, besides the fact that they don't have to know it exist. As the time has passed however, many can recognize the gem and so some demands appeared - if only they have large amount of Sart to purchase not the raw material but the goods - like jewelries.
