The only place to find Catastropium is in this cave. Operating by the Valonia Senate, it's the main source available for creating Catastropium-based technology. They claimed that they found this cave beneath the city of Valone while improving the grand palace.

Geography

The giant cave is 150 meters tall, craved by water flowing downstream from the groundwater. At the bottom lies plenty of Catastropium clusters, lighten up the cave purple. By estimation, the mine can supply such valuable crystals for 100 years.

Access

The mine is monopolized by the government to ensure that no one can duplicate their military success. However, the only one who can give the direct access is the absolute man, the Emperor of Valonia.. As such nobody is allowed to enter or work in the mine unless who's personally being chosen. Many try to contract or bribe him with very expensive gifts just for the tour, only to get refusal as a response.

Hidden Mine? (Spoiler!)

For the outsiders, the place is a valuable, stretegistic mine. For those who works, the place is more than that; It's actually the farm, and many of them have never seen the light of the sun.

Farmable Mine

The cave is glistered because of clusters placing in a wide grid. The grid is designed to let the water flown onto the hole with its shard submerged. With classified property of Catastropium, it can grow itself by using water, in which this cave provide consistently.

Speaking of that, the catastropium isn't even a natural thing either. It was originately brought by Legna Gilmis after her journey to find the mighty stone.

Extract and Process

After the workers pick the biggest one on the grid, they carefully break it into small piecesbefore put back some of them.

Then putting them to the giant tank of the special chemical that can take the ability to grow itself away, so it can be used outside without knowing this spectacular characteristic. This progress know as Sterillization.

Some larger shards may be used by jewelry makers however, most of them had to be completely shattered into tonnes of coarse powder - which is very important for their mighty legionary. So, they put lots of them into the giant mill powered by the Crystal Engine, crushing and sifting.

Packaging inside barrels and boxes, these containers will be transport to the outside through the same way they enter in the first place, which is managed by the royal family.

Life in the Cave

Some plants are growing here by using its purple light, which to be turned into local meals for workers.

Many workers here are mostly prisoners, managing by trustworthy people and royal family. All of them have to live inside the cave for the rest of their life.

And to make this even more secure, the new workers should be born, work, and die here.

When someone die, their corpse will not be sent back to the ground. Instead, they've been stuffed. By putting them inside the coffin, pouring purple powder mix with the powder. This will freeze their body and never disintegrate, and sometime become the shard for harvesting.
