Catasar is a primary long-barrel musket using by the Gunner Legion of Valonia Empire. This ranged-weapon uses Catastropium powder as a fuel, and a small round lead bullet as ammonition.

Catasar was being developed between 19 - 15 BVE. It was based on Catasia, the first working handgun. It was first used by The Second Sacked before being applied to their legion. Since then, around 600 to 1,000 muskets are produced every year.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The musket uses flintlock mechanism as an ignitor, with a steel head instead of flint, to smash a few grams of Purple Powder inside a chamber, lighting it up. The explosion push a lead bullet at the end of the a barrel. As it releases from the nuzzle, the bullet can go as far as 200 meters at typical.

Loading A Musket

First, the gunner pour an amount of coarse purple powder from their pocket into a barrel, following by a piece of parchment/paper and of course, a lead bullet. These are pushed to the end of a barrel by using ramrod.

Then, the gunner gently shake it while leaning to the right side. Open the lid to reveal a small purple powder setting on the smashing chamber. They can add more of powder if necessary.

Finally, pull the cock to the arm state, and the musket is ready to fire.

Manufacturing process

Many components are smithed by people from Ferrum Faber. The assembly take place at Institute of Knowledge, within about three weeks for each gun to complete. Lead bullet is also produced by the institute, with a mass-production tool that can produce twenty bullets at once.

To ensure its quality, the demostation has been held on the training range at Rondius Fort as part of recruitments. If the gun break in action, it will be sent back to the institute to reassemble or scrap.

Significance

About 1.5 to 2 meter long, it is a combination of hardwood and wrought iron, for the stock, the mechanism, and the barrel. Sometimes the Amethium is used to make a musket stronger, longer shooting range, and more good-looking, in which is tyipcally made for the best gunners - like Valegions, for example.

Aesthetically, the ordinary musket doesn't have to be that expensive to look good. The mechanism is beautifully engraved with Emblem of Val, and the wooden stock is engraved with floras as well as the emblem. All the engraving is done by the institute after its demonstration turns successful.

Responsibility

As it takes time to create, losing your gun might not be a good idea. It is a responsible for you to always carry it on your side, and if you find yourself losing one you must find it as quickly as possible.

If there is no luck, your group might be only get a little punishment. If you do too much, you would be put into a prison. If your case happens to be an incrimination, the accuser would have faced death.

Luckily, no one has ever faced such crime - yet.

Huh, I didn't realise you could add images to tooltips. Fun! :D   Interesting article. I think my favourite bit was the section on responsibility. I think I would make sure my catasar was tied to me at all times!
