Azermathian Alliance Organization in Tarien | World Anvil

Azermathian Alliance

Newer than many of the other Brotherhoods, the Alliance is truly an alliance of separate, mostly struggling, guilds across Azermathia. Few cities dot the sub-continent and those that do exist are either strongly influenced by the Lord of Light or, in the case of Hopki, simply too distant and too different to infiltrate.

While the Alliance has little contact - and therefore little conflict - with each other, they do possess a strong information network throughout Azermathian. Using pigeons, sparrows, and other small birds, members of the Brotherhood trade news political rumors, and tips about the best targets throughout the subcontinent. Given the distances and general decentralization of Azermathia as whole, this network is by the far the best way to gain and trade information in southern Tarien.
  The Hinterlands
The Alliance certainly has a few outposts in the towns and villages of the Hinterlands but they serve mostly as hubs of information. There is not, after all, much worth stealing in the wilds of the Clay Steppes and the Eastwood. Occasionally, a thief will earn the ire of their betters and be banished to one of these outposts, much like a Imperial Legionnaire being banished to Fort Starrin.
  Kingdoms of Light
The theocratic leanings of the twin kingdoms of Drakkar and Warwick make thievery a difficult profession. Protection rackets not tolerated - shop owners simply call the Legion of Light to their aid. Smuggling might be possible, but other than fish and wool the twin kingdoms offer little of value. This leaves the guild, which operates in both capitals as a single organization, left with little but petty larceny and thuggery. Fortunately, the rising political tensions between the two fledgling nations has given the Brotherhood the opportunity to acquire and sell information; giving them a modest but consistent source of income.
  Rathgar
Northernmost enclave of the alliance and the largest of Azermathia's cities, the Brotherhood is strongest in Rathgar. Here strongmen run the same protection rackets as one might find in Karradone and urchins find lose coins in the pockets of visitors. The Rathgar City Council may not be as deeply bribed as the leadership of many cities in the Inner Seas but generally gives the Brotherhood enough room in which to maneuver. The exception, of course, is when anything happens along the wharf. Shipping and fishing are life's blood of Rathgar and city officials take a dim view of any tomfoolery that might impact their bottom line.
