Rin has been on her own for several years, surviving mostly on the charity of neighbors in her village of Farthington. While no single family has adopted the waif-like girl with knotted dark curls, no one would let her go hungry. As it rarely gets cold in the Hinterlands, she has made home in a tree on the outskirts of town out of scavenged wood and donated cloth. If asked, she will tell you that she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself by finding her own food in the forest, thank you very much. But she still won't turn down a free meal.
The villages do wish she would break herself of some of her more deviant habits, especially her habit of rifling through visitors belongings. She rarely takes more than food but always reports what she finds to Marge Le Smythe, doing her part to contribute the Azermathian Alliance's information network. Someday, when she is older, she is certain that she will take on more responsibility with the Alliance and get transferred out of the miserable town.
Scrawny and dirty, the 10 year old Rin lives in a treehouse outside of Farthington. Living half by her wits and half by the charity of others, she is the only truly active member of the Azermathian Alliance in the village. Trading information to Marge Le Smythe for favors, she hopes to get noticed - and transfered.
