The Crown of Thaur
The History
The first months after the death of Queen Tesel and the fall of the City of Goldwaste created turmoil in the remains of Merthiorn. After Naelin (then a merchant) arrived with the tetsu cub called Dinner, they became a sudden hope in the lives of the Merthionites, but several months had passed until this evolved into the birth of a new nation, the Kingdom of Thaur.
A surviving goldsmith from the city of GoldWaste was commissioned to make the new crown, in a symbolic gesture of respect for the country's predecessor. It was paid for by a shared effort of the surviving noble families of Merthiorn, on one of their efforts to gain the new monarch's favour.
The Design
The Crown of Thaur consists on a sort of circlet that starts on a V shape over the brow, and then wraps around Naelin's head and ears forming the shape of horns around them.It is made of steel entirely plated in gold and contains no gems. The design is symmetric and starts with Naelin's personal symbol on the middle, a V shape with a circle at its base and a long triangle shape atop the circle. From the sides of the symbol emerge two intricate, carved vine-like shapes. The circlet then starts wrapping to the centre with the shapes of two Passion Bird wings, a creature typical of Birdland City, representing the new capital, and then it curves on the shape of Dinner's horns, to represent the country's protector.
I love the artwork you got. That flag is quite nice. Nice work on the details.
Thank you very much! I designed that crown two years ago but I never made an actual drawing of the final design alone until today :)
Well it looks great. Look forward to reading more.
