The Lost

Where... The fuck... Are we?
— Common phrase among the lost
The Lost are the poor, unfortunte bastard who by whatever circumstance have found themselves crossing between worlds. Usually such an act requires a Gates and a Keys, but through the vagueries of Fate and Destiny, the intercession of powerful entities, or simple bad luck, the Lost has managed to short-circuit the process and crossed over by complete accident. Even without magic, they've turned the Key, opened a Gate, and bumbled into somewhere they really shouldn't be. In other cases, it's a matter of wrong place in the wrong time. Others still, their journey was no accident, and that's even worse.
If they are lucky, such a trip will blast open their minds to the impossibilities of magic and create in them the spark to become a warlock, witch, or other spellcaster.   If they aren't, well...

How Did We Get Here?

No, seriously, I can't figure out where we are or why we can't get reception. Are you sure this is the right away?
Keys and Gates are, by their very nature, not entirely predictable. The Awareness required to use on comes only to those who have learned Magic or are themselves magical, such as a vampire or demon. Mundies, or mundane regular ol' mortals, have none of this. For this reason, their trip to the other worlds tend to be a one-way go, unless they can somehow find someone charitable enough to send them back. Good luck with that.   Should they be well and truly up shit creek, their journey was not an accident but an engineered event. Predators from the Shadow or the Beyond sometime possess the ability to pull people into other worlds or into pseudo-realities where they can be hunted and devoured at leisure. Some of these follow all the rules of a horror movie, while others bear little resemblence to reality at all. A closed building with four doors that lead around to one another in and endless loop, or an infinitly sized IKEA are both places where people have met their grisly ends, thanks to some horror from Beyond.   Still, most Walkers and other spellcasters are (or were) once Mundies themselves, and should the unlucky Lost happen across one, it's common practice to try and escort them back to the Prime. After that, the Shadow takes care of the rest, turning memories into fainly remembered nightmares and the most grevious wound to a mundane reminder of some easily-explained accident.
